I don’t really understand the ARC stuff, need to do some research.
I’ve just got the Mini Cooper set from a few years ago with some extra track. I believe this is “sport” track, it’s certainly not digital.
This thread has cost me some money though as it reminded me I had it and one car was broken so the other day found two used much higher quality MINIs with proper race liveries and ordered those.

Questions for Russy or anyone ....
Is C8435 what's need to upgrade an existing setup to ARC Air Pro?
Yes C8435 is the powerbase... you will need some controllers. Is C8435 what's need to upgrade an existing setup to ARC Air Pro?

Analogue - 2 Lanes 2 Controllers. Cars fixed to one lane. Sets now typically less than £100
ARC One - Analogue but with APP compatibility (race tracking etc) - £120ish
ARC Air - As above but with wireless controllers and a couple more features enabled in the App - £200ish
ARC PRO - Digital, APP (all features enabled) and wireless controllers - £500 for official boxed set, but we are offering various packaged with the ARC Pro base...
You need to decide whether you want to be able to change lanes, if so you will need the now old school digital (no existing sets are being sold like this) OR the latest ARC Pro.
If you just want Wireless Controllers you can choose between the ARC Air (non digital) and ARC PRO (digital).
Here is a good image to compare it all:

Now to work out if I want to go that route, only just getting round to setting up the kit I've been collecting for years.
I see in the description in the link you posted it says more than one power supply is needed for more than 2 cars.
Which power supply is the ARC Pro using. I have loads of them lying around from the sets I've been buying - knowing my luck it's a new power supply for ARC.
Ive only really had my first proper go with ARC PRO this past week or so, and once I got around a few quirks with the app its decent.
With a massive influx of returns after Christmas I decided to stick a set up in the warehouse so we can test said returns as so many issues are often user error...
Anyway we stacked a few boxes up, chucked a couple spare rack shelves on top and chucked an SL5 ARC Pro (http://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/scalextric-digital-set-sl5-arc-pro-4-cars-2017-jadlamracing-layout/) together! We've been having a right laugh with it, with 4 of the warehouse chaps having some great races before home time! Ive currently got the lap record with the C3841 LM Car (always the fastest!)

Sort of looks fun, but with those corner x-overs, doesn't the lane length end up much the same whether the lane change is used or not? Would sort of obviate the whole point of digital in the first place..?
Ideally I would like to use 1 Cross over to switch it up each lap, however Digital will either work with 2 or no crossovers - so we stuck 2 in there. It all depends how you are racing. Having 4-6 cars on track its great to have it mixed up and as its such carnage you only use the lane changer to try and pass - not for trying to get an advantage by lap time.

Can you convert old analogue cars to run on the new fangled digital malarky..?
I believe so - you can get a digital chip conversion kit. That said, testing on my old cars, they were all working and triggering the start/finish etc, it also says in the manual "compatible with all scalextric sets".

Mostly, yes.Newer cars most are likely to be "DPR Ready" which means you can get a Plug in Chip.
Older cars can be converted by using a Chip kit which needs to be soldered in.
There are some cars however that are very difficult to convert to digital due to the lack of space for the chip to physically fit, a good example being the Caterhams and the old (50s - 90s) F1 cars.
Very long thread on Slotforum all about which cars can / can't be chipped and in some cases the lengths some people are prepared to go to squeeze a chip in

I went to A1 Slot Racing in Sutton-on-Trent yesterday and made the mistake of looking at the racks and racks of (mostly Scalextric) cars...
Oops. Mine (red sticker, not that it matters ) will be getting a 3d printed chassis as soon as the wizards at Olifer.pt have them available.
There are some niggles with it as standard (headlight board location, price) but it's quite an improvement for the brand.

Sadly I'm going to have to thin out my Scalextric collection significantly.
I've got boxed sets, new and used track, analogue and digital, accessories, cars etc etc for a project I'd started but have to admit defeat in terms of the possibility of completing it. Where is the best place to sell?
