Love that.
I'd really like a digital set up and all my sets are analogue.
It’s great as can go analogue if I want for some of the other cars we have, and for the little ones you can set the car power to 50%...Love that.

... the only issue with that is my 4 year old has the track record as he could stay flat out, and us having to slow down for corners couldn’t get near his time

Heres ours. Keep buying the odd bit of track and cars. Now up to 9 cars. 3 Astons, tvr speed 12, xkr, viper, 4wd imprezza rally car, gallaco, . Best is Rover Police Sd1 with 40 year old rubber. Ever had under and oversteer on a straight??

Want some jumps and some lane change. Lots of staights means great speed!!

Track designer tool invaluable.

Helps a lot if you have some of the tighter, R1 bends in 45 and 90 degree versions which make it far easier to get more track into a limited space. Flyovers and raised sections make a huge difference, too, if you can find a way to work around that.

My board pictured above is 8x4 (with underlying 2x1 frame) and the track plan on it is the best I could come up with without a flyover (see pic in conservatory above)You will have enough room to put a pitlane down the outside, but not anything scenic to go with it.
It is a tough space to get a good layout with all the research I did on 8x4, if you can stretch to 10x5 it will open up much better possibilities.
For scenics it is worth looking at the model railway or warhammer gaming scene, cork sheets can be used for sound deadening. Also if you want to glue down, better to use hobbytac than pva as allegedly it is better for sound deadening too.
Just to add, the best 8x4 plan site i find was this one

I have a small collection of cars that I let my kids use...and the rest of them are boxed and unused. It is perhaps a waste to not use them, but I couldn't cope with seeing my kids just trashing them! bristolracer said:

I have a small collection of cars that I let my kids use...and the rest of them are boxed and unused. It is perhaps a waste to not use them, but I couldn't cope with seeing my kids just trashing them! I also admit to having gone a little scaley bonkers over the past few months! Been picking up bargains on eBay and various other places.
I decided for the moment to go with arc air (best analogue set up) for the kids to learn on and create a sort of GT style theme.
It also keeps ultimate cost down as all the old cars run and the new cars are a good bit cheaper (cost of the plug essentially). In short shrift the 'kids' have amassed already 3 sets, all good but used condition, a Le Mans RSR arc air set, an Aston set 'supreme velocity' and a Mclaren set 'speed hunters'
Then of course you will need some expansion packs, more interesting curve sets, all the borders, bridges, a soldering iron for when the motors get burned out, new motors for the aforementioned.. it seems to be a constant stream of dpd deliveries at present!
Not overly precious with their little lot so far, but when I get some of the high detail cars brand new they will certainly be for best.
8x4 is the coming few weekends project! that track above looks ideal.. I have also read that 9X5 ping pong table is also a great place to get set up, and of course doubles down as a ping pong table!
ETA! No sooner that I post the above I have just won a pair of the power maxed minis for a tenner! They are now the set to be the new support race and will be perfectly capable at taking chunks out of the walls! Addicted!

Another idea for lockdown. Think I'll be setting up a layout in my garage soon.
I did that a few years ago and I put the car outside and I built a massive track in the garage. It was great to enjoy such a big track but I only had it down for a few weeks though. I'd love a permanent track set up somewhere. cerb4.5lee said:
