Recently passed FIL has left what amounts to probably hundreds of boxed model trains, carriages and associated gear. Family would really like it cleared in one as opposed to the pain of selling individually on eBay etc. Any ideas? Do model railway clubs even exist anymore??? One model alone was seen online for £300+ but no idea of the value as a sum.

Try Hattons of Liverpool, they've started selling used things recently, and are probably the biggest retailer in the country.

Take it all to a modelling show and flog it there or contact a local model railway club and see if they want it.

Contact your local antiques auctioneers who will put it in their specialist collectors sale . The good thing about the auctions is they are advertised widely on the internet and potential bidders can view the lots online and bid online whilst the auction is ongoing . Toys and models at auction always exceed the auctioneers valuation and sometimes auction fever pushes prices beyond what stuff is worth .

Vectis auctions are specialist toy auctioneers. They might be worth a try, unfortunately their next model train auction is today.
