The LEPIN "LEGO" for non sensitive types

Hi, found this fabulous thread while googling about Lepin. Similar to most here, I am disgusted by the price of Lego these days so have been thinking about Lepin (mainly for display UCS pieces).
There are a few concerns though which I cannot find answers for but maybe some of you good folk can give me answers. Basically I am worried about Lepin et al's safety. I have heard there is sometimes a foul stench from the pieces/bags. Are there chemicals involved which are harmful? Would it help to wash the pieces in warm soapy water first? Are the sets safe for children? As I said, these will be for display but if the plastic is exactly the same as lego then maybe I would buy the odd bigger set for my son.
Hopefully someone can shed light on this.
I've bought 2 Lepin modular buildings and both smelled pretty horrible when the packaging was opened. I separated out the bags and left them in a well ventilated room overnight. By morning, the smell had mostly gone. By the next day there was no sign of the smell. No rashes after handling the pieces so I don't have any concerns. The quality seems fine - one missing piece from one of the sets and almost no spares. I also have some genuine Lego modulars and side by side they are almost identical, except for the name on the studs of the real thing. There are a few concerns though which I cannot find answers for but maybe some of you good folk can give me answers. I think I will take the plunge and buy the UCS Y Wing. If the pieces smell I will air as you described then build the kit and if I don't get any rashes I will assume all is good. Am interested to hear from others on this site if they have bought pieces for their nearest and dearest.GodzillaFan said:
HI All,
Still got a few pages to read and catch up about the lepin sets.
Looking for some advice or recommendation who to buy the ghostbuster car set from?
Also, I am after the Kazi tanks, has anyone bought any and recommmend some sellers?
Cheers upfront
Hi, welcome to the biggest and best car forum in the world. Still got a few pages to read and catch up about the lepin sets.

There are a number of posts from loads of people on here, from those there are probably 4-5 sellers that always seem to crop up as reliable and good to deal with. All accessed through Aliexpress.
For me I get my stuff from a seller called Gelida, good fast shipping and reliable, it's now the person I always go to.
Don't know anything about the tanks though.
I generally go with who has the most orders so for ghostbusters car I would use:
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Lepin-160...

Just made my first order for a Y Wing from LEPINBRICKS Store. Tried my Clydesdale Bank card and got declined 3 times - subsequently the bank locked my card. Easily rectified with a trip to the bank. Used my other card and went through fine. Now just the anxious wait to see if it arrives!

That's not Ghosbusters. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Lepin-160...
Little bit concerned about the upcoming court case (Lego vs Lepin), and am wondering if the UK customs will start withholding orders with Lepin blocks inside. One possible way round that I thought is that, as well as having sets posted without boxes, instructions could also be ommitted. Therefore it would just look like one big box of lego and they would have no grounds to confiscate and destroy it. I think any sets I order in the next month or so I will mention to seller that I dont want instructions. Last thing I need is a £100 set being witheld.
I've been lurking this thread for a while and have been interested in some of these sets. Just finished putting together this little guy today over lunch, I bought it as a test before I go ahead with the UCS tumbler and a few other sets I won't pay eBay prices for.
I'm both impressed and disappointed with it at the same time, it was missing a couple of pieces but neither can be seen when it's finished and the tracks won't move smoothly at all but it is an excellent display piece. The service was very good though from the Gelinda store on AliExpress, it cost less than £20 and arrived yesterday just over a week from ordering.
All in all a successful experiment.

You could do what I plan to do: replace some parts with real lego parts via bricklink. I have ordered the Y Wing UCS. Lepin's version has dodgy hosepipes, dodgy cockpit window and connector and another couple of bits. I've sourced the parts I need to replace from bricklink and came to £10. Am sure you could order track pieces for your Wall E, enabling him to move!

it looks bigger but still in proportion. I think they are still the correct scale.
