I'm guessing no one heard about any updates on the lawsuit then?

its not about brick design - its about branding and "confusion"

Lepin can very easily just sell "the bricks to build a certain kit" just like brickparts or brickset and point you in the direction of the online instructions.

its hard to know where Lego think their IP lies - if its in the set development then why allow the world to view the plans for free?

you can do the same through Lego as well

Having read through all 75 pages of this forum through the last week, I’m definitely sold on Lepin.

I’m planning to get my partner either the walking AT-AT (05050) or R2-D2 (05043) for Christmas, grab myself a Wall-E, and get my dad either the Technic Mini or the Technic VW Camper.
Since it looks like AliExpress is having a massive 11.11 sale, I’ll buy them in that!

Anyone have any advice over which of the AT-AT/R2-D2 and Mini/VW Camper would make better presents? R2 is slightly more expensive, but still very cheap, and the technic sets are the same price, so no help there!

I’m looking at Toys Factory - 97.6% with >7000 feedback, 4 diamond rating, and Dear Baby Toy Store (weird name, I know), 97.8% with 1414 feedback, 2 diamond rating.
Having read through their feedback they both look reliable, I’ll let you know how I get on with them once I’ve ordered.

The camper van is really good.

That looks fab! Are the lights an additional set?

The lights were from Aliexpress. They needed a bit of modification and were a bit fiddly as they are all wired to 1 usb connector.

I've ordered a few sets including the camper van and non of it seems to fit well, my girls are really into the "Friends" series and if they try and play with it, it just seems to fall apart. I'm not knocking it as it's cheap but from what I've seen and we've ordered and built a few sets it doesn't seem to stand up to the playing test that Lego does.

I've noticed that Lepin (and other Chinese block sets) have a very slippery feel to them - most likely the mould release agent not being washed off the blocks!

If washed (and a simple sock bag with the bricks dumped in and then agitated soapy water to be) then rinsed should take care of the mould release agent and then allow the blocks to stick together better.

That said, some types of Lepin pieces (i.e. the blue round "technic" pieces) are not up to the same tolerances of Lego, proper. The same can be said of the half circle pieces used for the gun pods on the Clone Wars sets by Lepin.

Both of those you want to replace with actual Lego pieces.

With the Lepin "Friends" Roller Coaster, you also want to replace the wheels on the cars with actual Lego wheels so they spin better.

i would say the lepin stuff doesn't stand up to constant fit and refit...its ideal for UCS but i would by real lego for actually playing with

neither megablocks nor lepin will contaminate my 3 tubs of real lego

tbh fot the smaller sets, just get argos 3 for 2 or amazon prime discounts

I wouldn't bank on much in the way of savings. Last year, most sellers just seemed to jack up their pre-11.11 prices and then show them as marked down to the pre-11.11 selling price by way of discount. Smoke and mirrors....

Wound up buying R2D2 for my fiancé, the VW campervan for my dad, and Wall-E for myself.

R2D2 from H&H, free DHL shipping.
VW Camper from Toys Factory, free DHL shipping.
Wall-E from Gelida, free ePacket shipping - no-one seems to sell Wall-E with free DHL shipping because he’s so cheap, and I wasn’t willing to double his price for DHL, so I went for ePacket because previously people have said that’s more reliable that China Post.

£115 total for the 3 sets. Bargain.
And now to impatiently wait... and then try and check all the pieces are there before gifting them.

Will be interesting to compare delivery times, can you post up when it arrives (and I'll do likewise).
Cheers
Will do smile

Shipped today (Thursday 2 Nov @ 11am GMT) - so quite slow between order and shipment this time

my lepin ghostbusters model (according to fedex site) shipped 11 Sept and arrived 15 Sept

JJ
My Falcon was scheduled for delivery today by DHL, had to go online and defer it to tomorrow though as I can't guarantee anyone will be in to sign for it today. Excellent delivery speed really, I only ordered last Tuesday (31st)!!

That's excellent, can't believe how fast the delivery times were! Mine did turn up yesterday after I delayed delivery for a day. Massive box, I got the bags out to count them off (making sure I had bags for each "bag stage") and there was no way I was getting them all back in the box! Now I have to figure out where to put it when it's finished!

This is my problem with the "old" UCS. It is too tall to fit under the double bed, too big to go on a wardrobe, it is just awkward. Plus when the kids knock a bit off, especially a 3x6 "wing" section, you will never find where it came from. It is 6,000 pieces of grey. Genuinely tempted to just bin it when I get bored of it, and buy another unmade set for storage for when I want to build it again in ten years time.
