This is my problem with the "old" UCS. It is too tall to fit under the double bed, too big to go on a wardrobe, it is just awkward. Plus when the kids knock a bit off, especially a 3x6 "wing" section, you will never find where it came from. It is 6,000 pieces of grey. Genuinely tempted to just bin it when I get bored of it, and buy another unmade set for storage for when I want to build it again in ten years time.
Just take the one you have apart and re-build when you have that itch to scratch surely?

Now that wouldn’t be very opulent would it...

It wouldn't, plus I've glued some of the early stages when kids were fiddling (whilst I was still out at work or asleep). So, the glue came out for the first thousand pieces, then I realised pliers, a blowtorch, and threats to the boy would be far more effective biggrin Problem solved, no more glue needed, but it means I've got a half glued falcon. I could go back and glue the rest but it is SO big that the cost of binning it will be cheaper than a divorce.

I think I'm going to start building my SSD this weekend. Now that my tiny LEDs have turned up.

Anyone got any tips before I start?

Cheers

You will need more space than you think, my Falcon took up an entire 8-seat dining table, and a living room table. For 6 weeks. Oops.

Watch out for the different shades of grey.

As comment above, even knowing full well it was a large build, it took up a huge area!

Pre-warn any children to stay away!

Cross your fingers for no (or minimal) missing pieces. I didn't do an inventory up front (I'm not sure if the instructions/piece list is exactly the same as the Lego version), but it was right near the end of the build where I found there were a few (identical) missing pieces. I got the part number from the lego instructions and then ordered them from brick link.

I am actually considering selling mine now as I really don't have the room for it frown

Thank you so much all you good people who posted on this thread! Your information has been really helpful! Thanks in particular to Cwmdyn for taking the time to do that lengthy post! Yes I read it all!

In fact I read every single page and post in this 76 page thread over the past week especially on my commute - great entertainment.

So I thought I'd chip in at last.

I actually discovered UCS Lepin whilst trawling Amazon and Bricklink for my favourite sets and SMH at the ridiculous prices the aftermarket is asking.
I would do things like stay up into the early hours pricing builds on bricklink and Bricks and Pieces from Lego official site to see if I could bring things like the UCS Red 5 together by ordering their individual bricks.

Turned out to be just as expensive and time consuming as going the scalping route.

Then, before I found this thread I discovered Ali Express and took a punt on a ship I've wanted in one form or another since I was a kid: Luke's X-Wing.

So I won't ahead and ordered UCS Rebel Red 5 X wing from iToys World, it delivered within 10 days - I've opened it up and transferred the bagged contents to a Lego Tupperware type box, but I've not done an inventory yet or even begun to build it as - well - the missus doesn't even know, and I've got 3 boys under the age of 4.

No way I'm making a UCS in front of them! Gonna have to find some me-time at some point.

Only problem was I had an itch that needed scratching as it were. Cos Luke's X Wing wasn't the only SW vehicle I wanted since I was 7 years old.

Browsing another store on Ali Express I found the motorised AT AT! Ordered it straight away and it came pretty promptly from 'Toys Factory'.

Unfortunately I got hit with a £21 UK DHL delivery/customs charge. So was a bit miffed about that!

That was when I discovered this thread. One helpful poster (can't remember his name - sorry) on about around page 50 of this thread mentioned that if you ask the seller to value the package at £14 or less you can get it through customs without the horrible charges.

So now I've got my eye on the Ewok Village, from Gelida Store, the Sandcrawler from H&H Block Store, the Emerald Night (for my 3 year old's Christmas present to go with his official Lego winter Christmas train and station) and UCS Y Wing for me both from LEPINBRICKS Store.

Oh and before I forget I've also landed in the basket a set I didn't know existed until browsing the Creator Expert retirees that of Diagon Alley! I'll go ahead and order that as well in anticipation of my wee bairns being introduced to Harry Potter...ah...who am I kidding - I'll probably build it in the loft like Gollum years before the boys are old enough to appreciate it. Ive got that in the basket from H&H Toy Store.

BTW all the stores I've listed are untried by me except iToys World and Toys Factory - both came through for me albeit with a customs charge on the latter - the others I'm going either on a punt (Diagon Alley) or recommendations from you good sirs.

I'm going to kindly ask the sellers to label the packages as valued under £14 as I just can't be getting extra charges - I'm way over-ordering as it is but I just can't stop myself it's as if my dreams have come true! Kid in a sweet shop and all that.

Sad I know - but anyway lastly sorry to take up so much space but I do have such enthusiasm for this thread I thought I'd like to share my experiences with this good community and over the past week I feel I've met a whole new bunch of like-minded friends.

Now for me I *am* kind of a sensitive type when it comes to bootleg Lego and so it's my own personal principal not to buy current sets, but only retired ones, not because I care about Lego's profits I totally don't in fact I think Lego are being absolutely EVIL CORP with their horrible pricing and racketeering of their Star Wars sets and LEPIN is like a Robin Hood in my eyes in this regard, no - the reason i don't buy current sets is because I respect the artists/designers too much - I just can't take away their bread and butter and it pains me that Lego does price their plastic that way - smacks of Apple.

As an example, set 75170 from Lego, the Phantom, has Admiral Thrawn in it and is priced at £39.99 in the U.K. Now that's just evil. Lego is shooting itself not in the foot but in its liver (yes a slow and painful death) by scalping its loving fans like this. No wonder so many of us resort to Chinese knock offs. Now I bought 75170 and countless other official sets such as the UCS Tie Fighter, Slave 1, rebels frigate too many to list here but they are literally boxed, sealed and sitting in the loft. No joke. Basically they're too precious I build!! I mean WTF??

Anyway I totally understand that many of you guys are going for Lepin with the current sets as well. Myself I've got about £80 of VIP points on my card and I think I will go for the new MF from Lego - if I ever manage to chase some stock down - even though it's so pricey just because, well I want the black VIP card haha.

What I really appreciate from you guys though is that you've shared your ordering and build experiences so much on this thread and it has been a great help and long may it continue.

Any more tips on how to avoid customs charges as that seems to be a total nightmare, would be gratefully received.

Now back to browsing that list: always loved the B-Wing...hmm

Hi. New here and wonder if anyone can help. i have just received my Lepin millennium falcon 05033.
Im impressed with the quality but it looks like I have at least 1 numbered bag of pieces missing as I have no mini figures. My numbered bags range from 1 - 93 with none missing in that range but how many numbered bags should there be? Trying to communicate with Lepinbricks seller and im being asked to list the exact parts and number of each that Im missing.
I don't know if its a language barrier or what but after explaining I only have bags 1 - 93 he is asking me to photograph the missing pieces from the manual and the quantity i need. If I have missing bags this could be hundreds of parts and its a Christmas present so don't want to build it before.
So the question is, how many numbered bags should there be?
Hopefully someone here has the answer
Thanks

Mini figures need to be made (hands arms need to be connected)

My set is for crimbo so can’t take the bags out

Numbered bags for Lepin seems to be a new thing - and it helps a lot!!

i'm about two thirds of the way through building the 05132 Falcon - there are about 135 bags, which should be about 7500 pieces - as yours is about 5200 pieces and you have 90 something bags that seems about right.

Lepin isn't sorted like Lego - there aren't bags of mini figures, they tend to be spread about the place - as the previous poster said they also aren't built - arms need plugging into torsos, hands into arms, legs and then heads on - so you may just not have noticed them spread through the bags.

that made me laugh... they dont.... newer kits do have numbers my lepin saturn five bags where numbered - just opened a new one when i spotted a part i needed was inside and this seemed to work and didn't have to sort through a gazillion pieces.

if you go all anorak and by a million chinese takeaway pots to sort out individual parts that might be a solution in the long term. A bit OCD thought....

if you bought it from gileda and speaking to Nikki i would give up and go on brick finder and just buy them. took me three months to get parts for a cater ham and then they where the wrong colour.

On the one i'm building - there are 17 stages in the instructions, the bags are sequentially numbered - and they also have a big number showing which stage they are - so you can check you have all the bags.

with 7200 pieces making a big pile and sorting through would have taken forever - breaking it down into manageable chunks has helped a lot.

Currently on stage 13 - nearly there.........

No Idea who I am speaking to on aliexpress chat tbh. They have said there should be 95 numbered bags so they have agreed to forward on bag number 94 & 95 onto me. Said should take 2 weeks delivery but not holding my breath. Hopefully as its the last 2 bags in the set it shouldn't affect the build in the early stages. But I know that will come back to haunt me 😖

Fingers crossed

Hmm...mine came with 98 bags. 90 were sealed, the other eight were zip-locked. They were numbered (1-90 along with the part ref.) but not sequentially - these were printed on the bags whereas the eight zip-locked bags had the part ref. written on them.

I also thought the mini-figs were missing but I found them (in pieces) in their own bag which was "inside" the roll of one the zip-locked bags that was rolled up - if that makes sense.

The two long grids that go on the back of the ship were loose.

So...hopefully you're not missing more parts - and at the same time maybe the mini-figs are there
