Its finished - the new UCS Milennium Falcon - all 7000 odd pieces......

There was 1 piece missing and about 30/40 leftover, so not bad really......

Its huge, and really quite heavy.....

I have the older 5000 odd brick set sitting here waiting to build but am tempted to sell it and buy the newer version. Not sure if its worth the hassle.

My 5 yr old son saved his pocket money (£5 per week) and got me to buy the Death Star! He has been. After this ever since seeing it in the Lego shop. There was no way I was paying £400 so I told him he could have one if he saved his pocket money. Not thinking for a second that he would save up enough (albeit for a Lepin one).

So, I went to order it but was on pre-sell. Took about 2 weeks to be back in stock but when it was sent, wow it was quick! Posted from China 19th Dec, arriving at my Scottish doorstep on 22nd Dec.

Then the hard work of separating the pieces began. Bought a load of food storage boxes from B&M (the Chinese takeaway type). The wee man helped me sort them out for a couple of hours then I continued for about three hours after he went to bed.

Started building today but it is a slow process due to parts being all over the place - even though they were segregated by type. Gonna be one long build as he insists building all of it!

Regarding the set, very impressed with the quality of pieces. Even the minifigs are very accurate, though with some the clutch between body and legs is quite loose. Nothing a small dab of blutack won't fix.

Got the set for £118 which is much much better than £400.

I decided today would be a good day to start building my super star destroyer. It kept me and the boy occupied for a couple of hours. Some of the longer flat pieces are a bit warped. But they seem ok now the base is done.

I need to figure out where best to put a battery pack and run wires for the lights I'm going to fit.

I quite like the fact that all the pieces are separated into separate bags by type. Once layed out in tubs it makes finding pieces dead easy.

I have been watching this thread with interest as I am keen on getting the Decool GT3 after someone at work brought in the white one, must get it ordered in the New Year.

To get me going on the Lepin world, my son bought me the Caterham 7 in Yellow for Christmas so I will start the build over the next few days and post photos once it is built.

Initial thoughts - looks pretty good...

R2-d2 has shown up - two weeks door to door (would have been sooner but it landed in UK on Xmas eve). Just emptied the box out... not even sure where to begin! Think I need some containers to sort the bricks into, thinking of grouping them by size initially... there is a lot of white. Will update with how I find the kit as I go on.

Owning a 911 makes we want to build one of these.

Having done a little reading, the Lepin don't seem to have got the quality into the technic side of their bricks that the Decool version has.

I can see how easy it is to buy the Lepin one online with a little googling, but I am struggling with the Decool model.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to order a Decool 911 kit?

Hi all,

Finished my Lepin Camper (21001) yesterday. I ordered through Aliepress through a store called 'LEPINBRICKS Store'. It took them seven days before despatch, but then the package arrived within ten days from despatch. It had not been opened and there were no further duties to pay on arrival.

The package had no retail packaging (this was declared) and was in a well wrapped cardboard box with about 30 clear plastic bags of the camper within, plus a clear and comprehensive manual (Is this copied from the Lego original??)

Upon emptying the seemingly randomly packaged bags into a larger box, the build felt a little daunting. (I have not done something like this for over 30 years!). I really couldn't tell whether all the bits were present. As it turns out all pieces were present. The quality seemed very good - the only minor item was the large flat grey plastic pieces seemed a little distorted and needed a little 'persuading to get to fit perfectly.

So, overall very impressed with the build and recommended....

I belive they're largely copied, so you can download the Lego PDF and use that instead. Some sets (maybe the larger, more complex ones) do find slightly different solutions to their designs to save producing rarer Lego bricks so manuals can diverge slightly.

I've built the Lepin Star Wars Slave-1 (1996 pieces) and Ghostbusters Firehouse (4634!!!). Both came unsorted so needed categorising into (clear!!! Makes it so much easier) plastic cups. Lepin is like Lego on 'hard' mode. I did get a little bored of the Firehouse build...

However... I bought myself the Lego Star Wars Snowspeeder to build whilst I've been off work and it's kind of disappointing to have to 'only' sort such a small number of bricks at a time. I kind of enjoyed the process... it's quite therapeutic! And has endeared me to buying Lepin again in in the future.

BTW this guy:

hkwopczk@gmail.com

Is a known supplier of Lepin. He'll undercut the Aliexpress retailers and usually offers way better customer service. He's also up on all the customs practices so knows how to best avoid them. Google 'Jeremy Lepin Reddit' and you'll find any amount of positive feedback. I've ordered through him and he's a lovely guy. Highly recommended.

R2-D2 now finished. What an epic build. Only issue with lepin was the brown tube like structure for his legs and feet was very bad quality, and they sent the wrong parts to connect it to the model. Not complaining though, for approx £60 posted, it has been an enjoyable three days. The model looks amazing, and has some real weight to it.

Want to get some more lepin kits now... the issue is where to keep them all!!

Funnily enough I found this through sheepos Landy!

Searching for defender Lego Mocs, came across it on AliExpress, and then to here.

Got excited and ordered the caterham for £16 delivered without really checking the seller (didn’t realise it worked like that at first) so god knows when it’ll turn up.

Just read about 40 pages of this thread so I’m planning to buy the decool 911 as the consensus seems to be its slightly better than the Lepin one.

Hoping that the ‘presell’ Defender hurries up! Can’t wait for that.

Looking for a few more opinions on the Technic Volvo loaders, Technic set reviews seem mixed regarding the functions/hydraulics but there’s not much talk on these (certainly not recently), can anyone confirm this model works fine or recommend a particular Lepin/lele/alternative brand that does?

I have built both Lepin and decool gt3 and imho no difference in quality etc between the two. Finished a lepin tracked excavator and it works fine. Also built caterham, Saturn five, gt40 and all have been good. They are lighter than lego and the clutch is not so good on some parts. But for the price they seem really good

Bloody Hell $152! Lepin is getting as expensive as the real thing! I'm sorry but that's like buying one of those £300 Rolex slides, cheaper than the real thing would be but expensive enough to buy something genuine and nice.

I know, haven’t bitten the bullet yet, I’m torn.

It’s a lot for lepin but then i was pricing up the parts at £400+ not long ago.

Gonna buy the 911 first to tide me over but I know I’ll bite eventually, love defenders too much not to buy it

I presume the Defender is a rip-off of this one? http://www.sheepo.es/2013/02/land-rover-defender-1...

He's got it in the full review stage with Lego Ideas, his plans are 20€.

Lego won't build it, too many pieces and would cost too much.
