I wouldn't sound the death knell just yet.

I can see Lego facing a whack-a-mole situation where it closes down one company and another springs up in its place.

Is this result actually any different from the previous half dozen ones though?
Also does that only affect the copies of actual sets, so non Lego sets like the Roscoe F1 cars will still be OK?

Yes - Lego doesn't own the concept of the interlocking brick so they can only protect their designs and imagery.

The rights to the design of the F1 car models lie with the designer, who as I understand it has licensed them to Xingbao (but may now be in dispute as he's seemingly not getting paid).

I think the ruling was in relation to certain product lines too - Nexo Knights was the one in issue, I think I read. I don't know whether the effect of the ruling extends beyond that to all copied sets, or just to certain protected trade marks.

It's a totally reasonable and fair ruling and good for Lego but I'm glad I got a couple of Lepin sets before they all disappear.

This one alone would have cost me £300-400 (which I could never afford) but the Lepin version I'll be building over Christmas was about £30 I think:

So the update I saw on Reddit was 18 sets covered by the latest suit were Nexo knights and Ninjago. Lepin has announced they will no longer produce these 18 sets.

And the other lego copy companies?

They'll never get rid of it...

Worth hitting your local re-use / charity shops. The local recycling place in our town just gifted the Lego club in the library a massive box full.

My wife works at the library, runs the Lego club, and brought it all home for a clean before it went to the club. If you can imagine 3 cubic feet of grubby Lego in the bath, full of hot water and all the Milton sterilising tablets we could find, you'd be about right.
Dishwasher and a mesh bag - no messing around and it comes out dry!
Thanks for the suggestion, (and the other fella too, pillowcase and washing machine sounds like a good idea.)

We used the dishwasher for the Duplo...

Looking to get the GT3 as I’ve been watching prices for ages and still can’t justify £150 for a lego set!

Obviously on this thread there’s lots of recommendations for H&H but their GT3 doesn’t look like a Lepin set? Any recommendations on where to buy it from?

Lepin doesn’t make all of them the term is often used to represent all of those makers. It may be that Lepin don’t make it it’s decool or xingbao or whoever. Just buy it from one of the main sellers and it’ll be fine.

This one seems the cheapest at 70 and has sold loads (edit sorry linked to the chiron!)

So last year I did the r2-d2 lepin kit.

This year I’ve gone and bought the ucs millennium falcon... not cheap for lepin ($232 including stand) but much cheaper than the official Lego. Hopefully it will arrive in time for my annual leave at Christmas.

It's feckin' huge and will take more than your Christmas leave, in my experience... Prepare to despair at the endless grey wing pieces...

Still awesome though and something I would save in a house fire.

I’m really looking forward to it.

R2 was 2,700 bricks I believe and at a steady pace took me about 5 days in total. So fully expecting the falcon to take a fair chunk longer.

Looking forward to it arriving... must resist the urge to buy anymore big kits!

I've bought a couple of these sets now for my eldest daughter, initially the Beauty and the Beast palace set as this is now discontinued, but later the Jurassic World T Rex breakout set - £15 vs £49.99.

Quality is so good I couldn't justify the expense for something which will get built correctly once then thrown into the box with all the other stuff!

Keen on a model for myself now. Just not sure which - F40, Caterham, Mini...

I've bought all of those in Lepin, plus the VW Camper and London Bus.

All good.

My 6 year old is getting the Lepin Beetle from his Uncle for Christmas.

He enjoyed building the Mini with me over a number of afternoons, so hopefully he enjoys this one too.

I've used the site linked many times with no issues but haven't bought this item, just wanted to share as it's potentially the GT3 for £37 inc postage.

Sod it. Worth a punt for 40 quid, used them before with no issues.
