Not Lepin but we bought Max (secrecies life of pets) for my youngest this Christmas, it was actually too difficult for her but Mrs Hoonigan enjoyed building it and I think it looks great.

Awkward moment in a lego store the other day, my seven year old daughter bought a small set and the cashier was chatting to us when we were paying asking if we were having fun shopping.

Then my daughter started saying that normally we don't buy from the shop as its so expensive we buy it online, managed to cut in just before she mentioned China or lepin.

Phew that sounds intense, close shave indeed. Lego have a 'shoot on sight' for known Lepin supporters.

I'll give this a whirl at some point, just arrived after a month in the post... ordered from "wish" app
That's brave, the official Lego kit breaks when you breath near it so would be intrigued to hear how this one is. It's an unusually fragile design that I'm amazed got through playtesting.

Has anyone mentioned yet the LED kits you can get for lepin/lego sets? Search on any of the standard chinglish sites and they should pop up, custom kits for each model. A mate has just installed some on his Saturn V kit and it's surprisingly awesome.
Bought one for the Statue of Liberty. Worked ok, spent two hours installing it, then stopped working! Not put together very well and the instructions were links to a Chinese video site that were dreadful and had huge chunks missing.

Well this thread has come full circle, in that I took the plunge and ordered the Camper Van from Aliexpress to see if this stuff was any good (first time I've bought any and first time I've ordered from Aliexpress). It only took a week but it came from Spain and was in the UK within 2 days, dunno what the rest of the delay was.

1) There were no parts missing which surprised me, didn't need to dive into the spares bag.
2) Brick fit isn't great, several times I had to either force parts together or try alternatives (the flat blue plates were the worst). Also suffering from loose wheel hub syndrome, they're getting glued on methinks.
3) Some things are going to break if I take it apart/rebuild, primarily the bendy engine pipes, so it's staying together.

Overall I enjoyed building it and it looks good all together, it'll remain to be seen if I buy any more.

i have been given a Lepin Porsche but my only gripe is the quality of the stickers.

can i order official lego ones from the lost parts bit, or are they going to tell me to ram it?

Worth contacting Lego and asking, but if they don't want to play then there are a few places which will sell you them:

Heads up to avoid B&PToys Store
Ordered a ninjago set for my son on 27th december and still hasn't arrived plus no communication back from the seller when I've emailed

Good experience with MrJanson Store, and TengCanE-commerce Store though

The quality of the packing is excellent, I am sorting out the pieces for access as although they are in bags, the parts are grouped by type, not per instruction so the only option is to tip the lot out and sort.

Brick quality is very good, crisp edges but it's clearly not the same plastic, it looks identical, but feels slightly different to the touch.

The shear quantity of bits is astonishing, the last 'big' set i'd done was the Hogwarts Great Hall set at christmas with my eldest, a mere 180-odd steps, the porsche has 885. the manual is excellent and detailed although i've downloaded the pdf of the Lego ones from online.

I contacted Lego with a sob story and a 'replacement' set is on it's way from Denmark! i don't feel too bad as i've spent a fortune on lego over the years and offered to pay for a sticker set. Lego has definitely NOT lost a customer!

The set was a gift, but I would consider buying Lepin, but only sets which are no longer available or the MOC sets that Lego don't make.

I may take some photos of the build when i get started, but I have a 7 year old who insists he is helping!

Ha, you face a lot of the same struggles as I did with the Lepin caterham 7

1 - Non-numbered bag - I ended up having 20 odd bowls sorted into "type" to help the (sometimes frustrating) search for parts.
2 - a young child insistent on "helping"

I have to say, the only marked difference for me over proper lego was the bag numbering, other than that I have to say there was no determinable difference, that being said I am most certainly not a lego aficionado

I bought the Lepin Bugatti before Christmas as I previously built the VW Camper, Catherham and F40.

I must admit that the Bugatti is the best quality of all the kits, from the numbered bags to the quality of the manual it is perfect. The pieces are better quality than the 911 (we have that one at work) and the fit and grab is really good.

Picked it up for about £68 delivered via DHL which was a good price.

If you are on the fence about it - take my advice and get it as it is a brilliant build.

going to start sorting tonight, i have a craft case with lots of spaces for bits, hopefully i can do this without any assistance.

i'd get another set if I had space for it, currently looking like it will go in my son's room or wall mounted in the spare room

I went to Dubai a couple of weeks to visit my mate and picked this up at the Chinese market, I haven't started it yet, but glad your impressed, looking forward to getting stuck into it when I get some time. I have the Lego GT3, so the comparison will be interesting, it's the first Lepin Technic set I have (previous Lepins have all been Star Wars).

So i have my first gripe.

during the gearbox build, Lego instructions step 66, you add a small gear with a blue cross x stud which seems to act as a stiffener to the gearbox, this seems to have now made the entire transmission too stiff and gearchanges need to be almost forced. my thought is that rather than a stiff blue peg, it should be a looser item to stop the friction but both lego and lepin instructions show a blue one.

did anyone else have a similar issue during build?

Haven't come across that one yet, with my Chiron, I have noticed that not much moves very freely, due to the amount of contacts within the gear box etc. For example, when you turn one axle, on older sets the other axle turns the opposite direction due to the diff, with the Lepin Chrion, the other axle doesn't turn at all.

However, a minor gripe to be honest, the worst thing for is I have my first mishapen piece, so I'll need to source another one from somewhere after I identify it. It's black (curved at the ends like a beam) but only two studs long, one hole is a standard hole (where you could put a peg in), the other hole is a cross, where you could put an axle in, I'll try and find out the part number.

Found the part I needed, so just ordered a replacement.

I'm going to China next week (Beijing). Does anyone know if there are Lepin shops I can buy kits from there? Or is it all just online ordering only?
