The LEPIN "LEGO" for non sensitive types
Discussion
Be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Some sites have pulled everything even remotely connected to Lepin and others are seemingly business as usual.
It does make me wonder if I should try and get the McLaren P1 set ASAP, to bricklink it in Lego was £1k!
That or have a punt on the Hoonicorn but it might get delayed a long time by these raids.

Why do Lego act like they own the market. Overpriced ripoff. Didn’t lego steal the idea in the first place 80 years ago or whenever?
Edit ah yes:
In the late 1940s, a company called Kiddicraft began manufacturing “Kiddicraft Self-Locking Building Bricks”, which were patented by Hilary Harry Fisher Page. Kirk Kristiansen, the founder of LEGO, came across these bricks in a demo he was shown of an injection molding machine. He then copied these bricks and sold them under his own brand as “automatic binding bricks”

They don't own the market, 'compatible bricks' are legit since the patent expired in the 70s, hence the likes of Wilkos making their own sets. Despite that, no company has come close to genuinely competing with them. However, directly ripping off sets designed by Lego is clearly not OK, legally speaking, and doubly bad when it's a licensed set as they are also infringing the rights of the particular brand. Lego pay a staggering amount to license Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Marvel, DC etc.

Well, staggering is relative " In 2012, (Lego) royalty expenses amounted to $263 million while profits reached $4 billion."Edited by ukaskew on Saturday 27th April 02:15

Lego are a smart business, and as much as I love Lego they are also very much about maximising profits. Lego price as high as possible and use every means available to squish competition.

It's a Chinese company, give it a week before another 10 pop up. All they need to do is change the model by 10% or so to get around the Chinese copyright law and then it will be another drawn out battle until Lego win, the repeat as often as needed. I've had a quick look and I see new brands, before it was Lepin and Decool.Wow. A $660, 7000 thousand piece set from Lepin.

Really fiddly details in the massive rear wing and doors but very satisfying once it all comes together. I enjoyed building it more than the GT3.
The engine bay is a bit low on details but I'm going to try and moc in a turbo and exhaust that still fits in with the tight bodywork and moving rear clip.
My Steamboat Willie kit arrived today.
£17 and took 9 days to get here from China.
Only my second lepin purchase. The GT3 was my first.
The instruction book seems like a good quality print.
I hadn't realised when I ordered but it has a few gears inside so the funnels move up and down as the boat is pushed along.
Anyone built this model?

£17, interested in how well it goes together and the mini(minnie?)fig quality.£17 and took 9 days to get here from China.

Haven’t been on for an age as haven’t bought anything since I picked the official Lego Falcon on release and nothing has been built since
However, I saw this posted on a FB group the other day and it has certainly peaked my interest.
Basically it’s a MOC of the Hulkbuster than can be created using both original sets, 76105 and 76031.
In my opinion, the new build looks far better and if using Lepin sets its a great price for a display piece (and therefore not the end of the world if a little glue is required).
And all for cheaper than original cleanest Lego set
Both sets easy to find on AE by searching for the Lego set numbers.
Ironic that whilst the Lepin name has disappeared from the site, you can find all sets by using the original set numbers.
