I have one on order and have a random text saying I have a parcel landing tomorrow. So hopefully its my Porker...

Bought it out of curiosity, probably wont even build it up. Just want to open it up next to a LEGO version and compare them.

I have to say... this is tempting.

Im not a fan of the fake stuff so far, but if lepin is just using lego molds etc... getting the porker for roughly €100 actually makes it worth buying..

Id just want to keep it all separate from the genuine stuff...

Will be keeping an eye on this for when the porkers land

They can't be actual Lego moulds since the pieces don't have the Lego logo on them. Unless they employ child labour to file them off?

Interesting. While I find it abhorrent, I am intrigued!

I picked up the Lepin Ninjago temple of airjitzu when I was last over there for ~£25 to find out how good/bad they were.

I was really rather impressed, no it's not lego molds/stolen molds or other silly conspiracy theories but they are pretty good molds - ie the clutch is pretty spot on not too tight, not too loose - (too loose is something some of Lego's molds have a problem with recently!) They don't have Lego printed on top of them so you're not going to get them confused with genuine parts.

The instructions are clearly shrunk from Lego's original instructions but shrunk to fit 4 per page. Colours have been affected by the scan/duplicate/reprinting thus making some bits rather difficult to determine the correct (coloured) piece.

The minifigs were completely disassembled (hands/arms/legs/body/...) and split over multiple bags; whilst they were close in appearance to the Lego minifigs there were some obvious issues - one of the individual legs keeps coming off.

It's not a 100% duplication as there were some substituted parts but there was a Lepin copied light brick, with the semi-transparent screen also provided.

I think I will pick up a few more sets when I'm next over there; particularly sets that are no longer in production (eg green grocer). Whilst I am not willing to pay the amount it costs via Aliexpress (as they are raking it in profit wise selling to the few people in the west buying them); I am interested in paying the same price it costs to Chinese consumers.

Easy enough to copy the die sets and just omit the logo, some of the dies will from China but I know that some are made in Europe as I have visited a tool maker in the Netherlands that was making new die sets for new design parts.

The shrink rates could well be a function of the injection temperature, cooling rates or ejection temperature. Vary these in the same dies set and use the same ABS mix as Lego and you would get variations in quality that you could see. I cannot see how a Chinese plasics shop would be able to make both Lego and Lepin pieces and get away with it.

[quote=_MIKE_]I also have these two kits to build, is there any preference from anyone that is the first one to be built?

I'd like to see the Cafe Corner set built if possible. What was the quality like on the Green Grocer set?

If found the quality to be pretty decent, I was missing two pieces so had to raid my daughters LEGO.

I don't have a genuine modular to compare the one I've built to so hopefully someone reading this can be critical.

unfortunately I didn't notice until I uploaded the pics that I hadn't put all the levels together snugly for the pics so apologies for that.

As mentioned before the fit and finish to my eye and feel, felt pretty spot on and I do not feel I have something inferior. I think from memory it was either 36 or 39 quid so I really can't grumble.

Ok I'll build the cafe one next.

So, as you may be aware I ordered what I think is the Lepin GT3RS from Ali Express just 5days ago.

This is what I ordered and it cost me $94 all in, nothing to pay on receipt. - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-687pcs-Lepin-16...

So it arrived today and first impressions are that its very similar and it feels like an utter con - I mean there is absolutely no effort to produce anything even slightly different, its a total 100% rip off, there is just no mention of the word LEGO anywhere! The overall packaging, finish and feel of the product is of inferior quality, but your ordinary person would not notice the difference when handling different pieces. I will take some photos when I get 5 and stick them on here...

Sorry for thread hijack, Im after some retired sets (modular, star wars) sure you can guess what ones ; )
Ill always buy lego if its not retired.

If buying of aliexpress do i make an account with them like the bay, amazon?
Would you use credit card rather than debit?
Never heard of aliexpress before these threads.

Hope someone can help, and sorry for all the questions.
Like i said ill always buy original if not retired.

And Mike post pics of the falcon when you get it if possible?
If threads not deleted...

Thanks for any help

I hate to say, but I have looked at lepin on and off for a while - after this thread I have taken the plunge and ordered the falcon from Ali.

To who asked - yes register a simple account and order, I used cc and was taken to a proper natwest secure pay page.

Also on cc you get a bit of safety!

Took 1 day for Ali to respond to my purchase, but just had the shipping info from the seller

The UCS one, or the minifig one?

Id love to see a review on it when you get it in, not so much the set itself, but how it compares to the real thing

All this stuff is really tempting

The big ucs set from years back, wanted one when it came out but didn't have the cash - now too stubborn to pay it!

Have most of the big Star Wars sets from the past few years since though to balance things out...

Need all that, luckily I've been throwing out the boxes so swmbo doesn't know exactly the extent of all the sets I have to build.
