I've not opened the boxes or anything yet, I'll wait for the boss to recover from me telling her I'm sticking a 49 inch model on the wall!

Quite jealous of you getting these in boxes, I know at the end of the day the boxes dont really matter and as I'm not buying these (I've ordered the UCS MF) with any intention of selling on or taking apart once built, it would still feel nice to have the box as well rather than just a bag of bits.
I think I'll only keep the Porsche box as its a nice one.

Any of the others boxes I'll happily send if you cover costs, but at the end of the day personally I don't see the boxes as relevant to the enjoyment of the build.

I wish they'd number the bags!

No idea on the pricing yet for the crane, but I will have at least one!

Thanks, it's pretty nice, "only" 39 floors up. The last place I lived on the 47th floor.

I'm getting closer to finishing cafe corner, and have to say it's been more enjoyable to build than the green grocer. Touch wood nothing missing so far me will start on the Porsche in a day or so.

Yes I will build the SSD after the Porsche so I would imagine sometime next week I'll make a start. I do think I'll superglue it together though due to the fact my modular buildings are where it was going to go, so the only other option is to hang it up somewhere as a suprise for the boss who I'm sure will detest it. Oh well....

So, I appear to have ordered a Lepin 20004 via paypal when a bit tipsy at the weekend (brave, but at least I used paypal goods so should be able to claw it back should it not arrive) and a Lepin 05007 just now via Aliexpress properly with the Pockit.
Nice work!

Two sets I really want but they're not available here yet, sigh...

In my experience you're perfectly fine currently, they'll be waiting on stock and trying to save face by giving you the tracking number. The tracking will be real, it's just that the number they've given you will be from their book of shipping labels ready to go on boxes.

Also remember you're covered by Aliexpress, so just give them a chance wink

Cafe corner done, no bits missing!

This was an enjoyable build, still have the bank to go but that one can wait. I'll probably pick up the Parisian restaurant at the weekend time permitting.

Now onto the Porsche.

So where is best to order these from chaps : aliexpress, or elsewhere? (ideally via pay-pal so swmbo doesn't notice me spending money she doesn't know I have lol!)
I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to answer that as a few have ordered from Aliexpress, I buy all of mine locally.

...but it's fine that they are supplying blatant rip-offs of LEGO products?

Really, can you expect any better?

Let's not go down this route with this thread and play nice, can we?

I know myself and others discussed at length before on the other thread on the rights and wrongs of LEPIN.

For those having issue with aliexpress,if it turns south I can get you one it's purely the shipping that is going to be a bugger, about 50 quid at a guess by ems tracked and with you in five days.

I see Lepin do the Cinderella's Castle kit, which would make Mrs D-Angle very happy. Does anyone know if this is available now or just pre-order at the moment? Thinking of trying to get one before Christmas.
I haven't seen it available locally yet. There is a page on FB called customise minifigure intelligence they seem to list all of the new kits coming

Lego hoarders (not that there are any on this thread smile ) look away now!

Ooh I have 4 of these...

I also wholeheartedly agree with one of the posters above regarding enjoyment. It's nice to actually just be able to build and enjoy rather than even have to factor in whether there is resale, and the we must hoard and buy them all for investment bks.

The AFOLs will hate that we can also be AFOLs.

From memory I had the 1x2 smooth pieces in the wrong colour grey for one of the sections, but in all fairness that could of been my own doing as the greys look a bit off in the instructions.

My base plate curves up slightly in one corner but not enough to be concerned with.

The local shops here are now offering the Porsche for 44quid! Wish I had waited a week now.

Modular wise I've still got the brick bank to build, and I'm toying with the idea of completing the set. The trouble is should I rush out on buy them in case they become limited? I know none of you can answer that one, it's just that I have heard that the millennium falcon will be limited from Lepin.

Of the modular series so far I have cafe corner, brick bank and green grocer, if you could choose only one more, what would you choose?

I also see now they are doing The Simpsons house

I don't have any of those, but of the three I have (cinema, Parisian cafe and pet shop), I'd say Parisian cafe is the best, followed by pet shop and then cinema. Not sure where the detective's office fits; probably behind the Parisian cafe but ahead of the other two. Are the other out of production sets available, such as the town hall?

Edited by Jobbo on Sunday 11th September 09:48
Yes Town Hall is available, in your opinion would you take that over the Parisian Cafe?

Excellent. Seeing everyone start to build is making me think I better pull my finger out and build mine! I've only managed tyres on rims so far....

Wow Jader1973 is at it again! This is the same poster that had my original thread closed, after asking me to open it up in the first place and keep the LEGO thread separate. He succeeded in having my thread closed once and then Stig deemed it fine and re opened. He really does like to try and police the forum without authority.

Anyway as we were...
