I've seen quite a few different ones offered on Ali.

Wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

I would love a large model of an aircraft carrier or battle ship... think Nimitz or Ark Royal, or HMS Hood maybe.

Have spotted a couple MOCs for Bismarck and Japanese carriers.

Are they anything about and if so, are they recommended?
I have two of the Cobi ships the Bismarck and the Titanic (the 3000 piece one).
Cant recommend them highly enough beautifully designed, engineered and manufactured. You can see that they are made by enthusiasts as there are some terrific little details on them that could easily have been overlooked but are there (I like the hangers on the Bismarck).

The Titanic is next level, absolutely packed with detail (within of course the confines of the medium) the benches are an example, all precisely in the correct place according to the plans. It’s accurate to 1/300 and thus just shy of a metre long weighs about 5kg!

https://cobi.pl/en/titanic/rms-titanic,art,11729.h...

Thoroughly recommended as a nice stress reliever and fun build,
The do a Warspite and if they did a Hood (which might be on the cards as Bismarck has been joined by a Prinz Eugen) I’d get it in a heartbeat!

Awesome info and thanks for the recommendations.

I might have a lockdown treat with Titanic.... then consider Bismarck and hopefully Hood if it comes about!

Have taken a punt on a Saturn V Tower.... saw a few for sale and picked one from yourwoob. Just over £100.

Arrived today. Delivery took a couple weeks, which impressed me.

Packaging was really secure. A hell of a lot of bags, not too well labelled. Instructions look clear. Initial look at the bricks ..... don’t seem to quite have the rigidity of Lego.

Have a couple others to finish before I hit this but will update as I go!

Must not look. Must not look. Must not look. Must not look.

Seriously though, make a thread when you build it please. Scott Manley (YouTube space science bloke) has one and said it needed a fair amount of Kraggle to keep it upright, so I’ll be watching with great interest.

The USS Missouri from Oxford (Smyths toys) is a good build and great value at £40 for > 1000 pieces.

Of course I will - well I will try anyway.

Also, this may have fallen into my basket this weekend:

Keep thinking about one of these to compliment my Saturn V so will be watching your build with interest.

Enjoy, I am just about to finish mine and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has cost me even more money as it has reignited an interest in the Golden Age of the Liners so I have been buying books to go alongside it (particularly recommended if you get bitten by the same bug is the Haynes 'Manual' on the Titanic which really allows you to appreciate the details in the Cobi model).

The Titanic model itself is in my opinion a better model of its subject than the Lego Saturn V (which I also loved assembling and you are now going to cost me £150 with that Launch Pad so were quits! biggrin) from a distance of 6ft or so it is just a bloody large model of the Titanic which is praise indeed for Cobi given it's 2800+ small plastic blocks!

Just to second (or third....or maybe fourth?) what others have posted. Really want one but I’ve been put off so far by tales of poor quality and the need for lots of glue. My understanding that the original build (what does MOC actually stand for?) used a lot more bricks, but that the Chinese knock-offs shaved the brick-count, making them much more fragile.

So pull your finger out Matt, get it built and post your thoughts ASAP. Because I suspect that there are quite a few Lego S5 owners on here who want to know!!

Finished my Cobi Titanic today.
Great fun to build and a really terrific model with some lovely details, highly recommended.
Just for fun I got some 1/300 passengers and crew to add an element of scale, perhaps Leo and Kate on the prow and Captain Smith not coping with events on the bridge.

Trying to find something to get me over the disappointment of my missing parts Lepin Saturn V that is languishing part built in a box. I quite fancying the Cobi Top Gun F/A 18 Super Hornet. Ive been obsessed with watching Hornet carrier operations vids on YouTube of late, so I could re-enact them on the ironing board at home laugh I’ve got some Jadlam points to use which make it a notch over £30. Has anyone built one?, is it decent value at that price or am I paying for Top Gun marketing nonsense?

Not built the F/A18, but have recently built the Cobi Concord, Spitfire and Hurricane and enjoyed them all, so I’d have no hesitation buying the Hornet

Where’s best to sell Lepin etc 2nd hand?

I’d like to build, then sell rather than holding on to stuff, but I’m guessing Ebay etc are no go for copyright reasons?

Think you will be ok on ebay if you are honest and say 'lego compatible', tons of companies sell lego compatible bricks

If sold some imitation Lego sets on FB and just made it clear it wasn’t proper Lego. Don think it’s an issue.
