CMC's amazing Ferrari 250 GTO

My latest addition arrived today and I must say it's a real gem, feels as special to own as the real thing (without the stress of taking it on the road!)
By far the best 250 GTO I'm ever going to own!
Limited to 1500 it's only going to go up, though like the Transporter that CMC do t is a keeper!

Yes, if you chose the right ones. This will as it's limited in number to 1500 examples.
I have both CMC Fiat Transporters, the Ferrari and Maserati versions. Both of these have more than doubled in value, nearly triple for the Ferrari version!

There were two sold in auction last month.
A plain red one and a silver one.

They made £180 & £170 respectively which I think is around half new price.

I don't know how many of each were produced.

A mate of mine was collecting CMC stuff, but I think he's stopped now as the new prices have got quite a bit higher. I think he bought the earlier Mercedes transporter. Excellent quality.

CMC do make some great diecasts. Fortunately, this is the first I've really been tempted to (Did they do a Maserati birdgcage too, now I think about it? I nearly bought one of those, but it had sold out when I went to! )

I'm not convinced of their long term investment value though (any diecasts and I have a few squirreled away that have gone bonkers on eBay - A couple of BMW Art Cars, for example, although sadly not the Warhol M1, which I saw race at Le Mans, and a couple of Exoto Group C racers which I paid £100-£150 for a few years ago).

They may attain a cult following, but they might just be old model cars by then... Only time will tell and I'll probably kick myself for not buying more!

I also checked the prices following the thread on Amalgam. Even the standard edition in red are around £1k. CMC aren't making them anymore so they are increasingly hard to come by.



Guiddy, I recall buying this Autoart 787b from you which also turned out a good investment as they are around £350 to £400 these days.

Not quite to the same quality of CMC but I also have this GTO in my collection, I believe it was a Revel model it is well over 14 inches long in old money and quite well detailed. I'm sure I kept the box too somewhere.

I love the quality of the CMC carsI.I like building as much as showing them. I took a financial leap and built a 1/12th MFH kit acouple of years ago,took me a year to build.

That is fantastic, just had a browse of your thread, detail is up there with some of the multi thousand pound Amalgams I lusted over at the Classic LeMans display. Reminds me I have a Pocher kit of a Rolls Royce up in my loft that I bought about 25 years ago may well dig that out and finally make a start.
