I can see why but it is a terrible shame
Anyway, what other classes should I refrain from?
I know you're joking - IIRC the last time we were in the same class, you smashed it with your Westland Scout??Anyway, what other classes should I refrain from?
Bit of a sparse 12 months for me this time: Macchi 202, Kittyhawk, both with aftermarket stuff. Matchbox P-12E (OOB) and the Airfix Refuelling set (not sure what class they'd be in). None of them particularly outstanding, but it's good to have a goal of entering them in a competition whatever they end up like. Alos got a OOB Cyber Hobby Helldiver (terrible, terrible kit) on the bench, which is going about as well as the Bulldog. That's supposed to be for a review though, so I could just bin it and pretend it never happened...
Nathan's pretty proud of his Warhammer stuff, and he's building a Panda Monk figure that he bought there last year, so he'll take them along I guess.
How about you - I don't see things you're building these days?

There's a Chinook of the Special Forces Sqn 7 sqn which might be OK and a Merlin of the FAA, not much else really
Kinda concentrating on rotary these days
Oh and a Palouste jet starter for the craic
All in proper gentleman's scale, 72th
Look forward to seeing them. It's always a nice show.Kinda concentrating on rotary these days

Dragging off topic again (will stop soon!)... speaking of the Halifax show, are there any shows closer to Surrey / Berkshire that are worth going to? I've been going through the list of shows on IPMS (UK) and there are a lot of promising looking ones in the next couple of months but they're all getting on for 2 hours travel away.
I'm looking for a show that has built models on display and models / accessories for sale as well. Never been to a modelling show before so would love to know if any are really recommended. There's one in Feb at the tank museum in Dorset that looks promising but I haven't found anything closer than that.
Then again, dr_gn has already put my google skills to shame a couple of times in these forums so maybe I'm just looking with my eyes shut again!

If you do end up travelling to a show - Cosford is a good one - you get the RAF Museum as a backdrop to loads of model club tables, and traders. It’s all free as well. Long way to go I know, but just a suggestion.I'm looking for a show that has built models on display and models / accessories for sale as well. You've got access to a resin printer, don't you dr_gn? Print an uncovered wing structure for the top wing for sts and giggles...
No giggles left for this one. With a resin printer though...yes you could do amazing things with model kits. I’ve got so many ideas but no time to actually do them.
Finished it - used up Hannants entire stock of Bulldog decals in the end think. Glad I persevered, it won first prize in the modified ‘72nd class the IPMS Halifax show today:
Also got second and third with the Macchi 202 and Kittyhawk. But the Bulldog means the most - it was a monumental struggle.

Amazing work, kudos for sticking with it to the end!
Thanks - IMO its one of the best 'classic' kits from Airfix (or any manufacturer for that matter). Glad to see it re-released. It was the aftermarket decals that I somehow screwed up multiple times, and that had knock-on effects. Still no idea how I managed to make such a meal of it.wolfracesonic said:
You remembered to can’t the stick over to reflect the position of the control surfaces, even with all the setbacks! Probably a few too degrees many mind but a splendid effort none the less;)
To port, and forwards (drooped elevators). No idea what the throws should be, but it’s the thought that counts perdu said:

Let me tell you guys who didn't see it that in real life, naked eye situation as I got yesterday it looks unbelievable
One of the finest biplane models I have ever seen, congratulations to you G
And to Master N junior for his rather grand Panda
Good to see you all yesterday, Cosford next?
Thanks for the kind words Bill, always nice to see you and have a chat. You ought to post your Chinook and Jaguar (and others) on here, they really are great looking models. Highest quality work indeed.
The nice thing with this type of planes compared to more modern stuff such as WWII planes is that you can actually see the cockpit details too.
What is that tiny prop doing on the lower right wing?
Thanks very much! The thing on the wing is an electrical generator. The nice thing with this type of planes compared to more modern stuff such as WWII planes is that you can actually see the cockpit details too.
