Rob, A quick update mate! Air leak fixed, Getting 50 psi and it's cutting in and out like it should do, Well chuffed, Thanks again! I'm off next week so will be going up to my storage and will be checking over my stash to find a candidate for my 1st attempt, I love Russian aviation tin especially civil but I've quite a few 1/72 IL-2 Sturmovik's that i have bought over the years as i also like this plane, I think i will dig one out and give it a go! Any recommendations for good airbrush paint? Cheers.

Tamiya acrylic and thin with mr colour levelling thinner 50/50. Very forgiving and a good way to follow on to lacquer paints.

Best of luck with the Soviet aircraft :-)

Hi Rob, All good mate, I will get up to speed and a respectable standard hopefully! Being 57 years old with deteriorating eyesight the added bonus you gave on your already super generous offer is just going to be too fiddly for me, I am happy to post it on FOC to anyone on here who would like it, If no takers i will give it to a local charity shop in the hope they can get a few quid for it, For anyone interested it is a Revell 1/144 F15E Strike eagle, I will post it to you FOC, PM me if interested and make sure you thank Rob!

I've enjoyed reading this thread. Doing my own 'er, this?' research I've come up with the following:

Compressor: https://www.rdgtools.co.uk/acatalog/PISTON-COMPRES...
Brush: https://www.modellingtools.co.uk/hs-ultra-2in1br--...

It's about the most I'd want to spend. Is there anything better (or should that be "better") for the money?

You should be fine with that. I bought an H&S Ultra too but never got to use it. It leaked air. I eventually sent it back and spent the extra to replace it with an Iwata Revolution as leaky Ultras seemed to be a not completely uncommon fault (though usually not with brand new ones!) but they do seem to get good reviews. However, H&S is a well regarded brand and I'm sure mine was an isolated glitch.

I've got no complaints about the Iwata apart from it needs a little bit more cleaning care than my budget airbrush does to keep it from clogging up. It's not difficult to clean though and the finish is good.

The compressor looks perfect.
