If you are going for LiPo batteries rather than NiMH, then I find the Blitzer Beetle is plenty quick enough with a 2S LiPo and a basic Torque Tuned silvercan motor, at least for general bashing around. It's already as quick as a DT03 with a Trackstar 13.5 brushless motor, 19t pinion, but running on NiMH.
Any faster and I would fear for my laboriously painted Sand Scorcher homage bodyshell (excuse to gratuitously post this one again)!
Mind you, people say the Blitzer gearbox and chassis are pretty tough, so I might get a cheap Lexan repro bodyshell and stick a brushless motor in it after all...
Yeah... So, a 2s LiPo and this 12t motor to it has made it pretty much undrivable. Standing backflips and traction rolls, might have to find something a little less punchy for it. Have you had to modify the battery 'strap' as it won't go low enough to accommodate my 2s LiPo

I’m using a 4200mAh Turnigy LiPo from Hobbyking, and that fits fine. It’s a hard cased pack, rounded the same as an old NiCd stick pack, so might be a bit thinner than a larger capacity pack. Finished putting this together at Christmas. Tamiya F350 High Lift with the MFC02 control unit for the vibration, lights and sounds. Also changed all the bearings out, fitted alloy chassis crossmembers in place of the standard plastic ones, 1/10th scale licenced ARB 'Ntirocharger' inverted shocks and proper alloy wheels with bead locked tyres.
The wheels were probably the most time consuming as each one has 56 small hex bolts and they had to be tightened up in opposite patterns in order to balance the tyre and not buckle the disc. Added a couple more transfers after the photos but it’s 99% done in the pics.
All in its quite a pricey model (understatement) and weighs just under 4kg with the battery. So not going to be a basher

So I painted and applied the stickers to The Hornet yesterday, it’s come out better than expected. I painted the roll bars which seemed like a good idea at the time but I had a bit of paint bleed which was a tad annoying but it was covered with a sticker.
How fiddly are the stickers along the side!? It’s not perfect but I’m chuffed to bits with it and sad that the build is finished.
I had the new ‘98 Escort delivered yesterday so that will keep me quiet for a little bit!

I'm waiting for this to come in stock locally then am definitely having one - I have an original Tamiya set of the 98 WRC decals to make it "proper", and will probably add a cockpit set too. Display only...11110111 said:

Great collection. My mate bought an a ante when they first came out, slightest bump of a kerb used to snap drive shafts. Was a lovely thing to build and look at.Cosworth's have pristine shells

Deposit placed Yeah I'm keeping an eye on the EVO as well, I'm in Madrid and if this price remains the same seems a good deal.
