Here is my pair of CC01s, the I've spent so much on the Amarok that I'd of been as well buying a proper crawler banghead. It's taken some amount of abuse in the 6 or so years I've had it.
The Isuzu was one of the re-release kits from a couple of years ago, I always wanted one in the 90s but was never allowed, this is quite an old picture, I've finished painting the hardtop cover/rear bumper/spare wheel since then.

I also have a TL01 which was my first proper RC back when I was about 11 or 12. It was originally a Focus WRC but has had all sorts of shells. Currently it has a half finished Escort WRC body but I'd like to maybe go back to a focus for nostalgia.

T16 body here https://landlmodels.co.uk/collections/rally-car-bo...

Its 257mm wheelbase and 190mm wide so TB/TL/TT chassis will go straight under

The wheels are probably HPI : https://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/114637

Both that and the escort look great! I have mk2 escort shell to paint that I still haven't got round to.

Have had assorted Tamiya stuff at various stages of my adolescence over the last 38 years or so!

Started with a Sand Scorcher which was built, run, abused, destroyed, rebuilt and run into the ground during my mid-teen years.

Bits of it (never throw anything away..) live on now and are slowly being rebuilt into what will become a nice minty F150 Ranger XLT

Raced Schumacher stuff outdoors in my late teens before moving back to Tamiya for racing on carpet - started out with a standard TA01 Escort Cosworth, although it didn't remain standard for long! More on that later...

Grew up (a bit), life gets in the way and RC takes a back seat, but on and off it was around as a hobby most of the time.

Probably not in the right order, but over the years the following came and went:-

M-05? Mini Cooper

TG10-MK1 Integrale

TA03F Mitsubishi Evo V - strangely no pictures but I still have this built, but little run, in its box somewhere...

TXT1 - monster truck, built and sold very quickly

Toyota Celica Gr.B

Picked up a couple of the original Hilux 4x4's when prices weren't too silly

One nice and mint, if not exactly to "box art" spec

The other rather more resembles Top Gear's version when they were finished with it..

Still got both of these pretty much as they appear above.

During lockdown it seemed appropriate to get something R/C going again, so remember the Escort Cosworth chassis?

When it was last raced back in the early 1990's it had gained wider Top Force suspension and a replacement (non-Tamiya)) shell which necessitated a custom chassis too...

Dug that out of hibernation and livened it up a bit with a 3S lipo and Traxxas Velineon motor and ESC!!!

Changed the tyres but otherwise ran it exactly as it stood and waited for something to break...

Despite the abuse handed out it flatly refused to fail and took everything the motor could give!

Took pity on it after a while and moved the motor, esc and battery to an Axial Wraith, in which it systematically destroyed the entire drive train!!

A lot to be said for these old Tamiya cars biggrin

I'll have to stop looking at these threads, I keep lusting after a Tamiya rally car (i've previously sworn blind i'd get an Integrale, as sorely tempted by the Audi Quattro, and more recently adamant i'd be buying the Mk2 Escort) but each time I convince myself I should go into the garage and chip away at the full-size car I'm supposed to be building!

That T16 looks great, and the Escort Cosworths always look good.

I had a Schumacher Club 10 Cougar when I was about 10, used and abused and ended up with a Calibra bodyshell on it, before I flogged it at Cash Converters (for £50!!!) and spent the money on guitar strings and disortion pedals instead. I do somewhat regret that...

I had the Toyota Monster Racer. This (and the similar King Cab) were slow sellers I believe, so the chances of a re-release is slim frown

I had the Hornet back in the 80s. I remember having the slow charger which would take around 14-16 hrs to fully charge the NiMh battery which would provide for about 20 minutes of actual use... good times, but I should’ve bought a fast charger.

Already have quite a few (or only a couple.. depends who's asking..) of RC's, mostly Traxxas and Team Associated but like many others I started with a Tamiya many years ago in the form of a second hand Madcap. Absolutely loved the thing even though it wasn't the most reliable of cars. I've had various Tamiya's since that too, a couple of TL01's and 3 or 4 TT01/2's and a much loved TA03FS.

Prices on Madcaps are out of control these days though so as much as I'd like to get one to sit on the shelf that won't be happening unless there is a reissue at some point. The Madcap and the 1995 Volvo 850 BTCC car are at the very top of my reissue wish list.

I am toying with the idea of making a Madcap tribute for My B6.2 2WD race buggy though. I may make a thread for that when I eventually get round to it.

Still wanting to fill the gap on the shelf though I ordered a TT01 with the Porsche 911 RSR body last week and will be painting it in the box art livery.
Just a few little bits on the B6.2 to finish off and then I'll get into it.

I've got one sitting in storage that I could probably be persuaded to part with:

However I'm in the wrong country at the moment and it's a bit difficult to move around right now!

I'm in no rush but would love to hear from you! I'll drop you a PM with contact details for when things are a little less restrictive.

re-release unlikely from what I understand, as a result these are worth loads, they go for hundreds on ebay, even when in rough shape.

For the hilux a company called WPL now make them, just as Tamiya did originally, I think they now offer various different bodies on them too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFahSvisT10 they are quite cheap but quite true to the original from what I've read.

They were an early tamiya kit so have a metal chassis, leaf springs and even a 3 speed gearbox.

The youtube channel above have loads of tamiya stuff on it, he also designs and sells 3dprinted parts to upgrade/repair.

Tell me more about the t16.
Yes, we need more info on that please.
Both chassis are Tamiya TT02, the Escort being totally standard save for ball races and JC Racing Minilite wheels, It had the bumpers removed to fit under the L and L Models body. That one was just built for fun and was sold on eBay.

The T16 is a bit more modified;
Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount, alloy steering set, steel UJ drive shafts, oil filled shocks.
Tamiya alloy prop shaft and high speed gear set with the crappy .6mod spur replaced by an RW Racing version in 48dp.
Widened wheel hexes to fill the body as well as HPI Fifteen52 wheels in 6mm offset.
Tamiya adjustable upper wishbones.
Alloy track rods to enable toe in to be set correctly and hubs modified for greater steering lock.
Alloy servo mounts and alloy servo arm.

The body is another L and L number with a cheap lexan cockpit off eBay and a home made roll cage from 4mm styrene rods. The rear diffuser is made from 2mm Kydex and some coloured transparent plastic for the mud flaps. Its also got an L and L spot lamp pod on the front held on by rare earth magnets and some wing mirrors to finish it off. It gets raced so the pod, mirrors, cockpit and diffuser are all removable.
It's fitted with a Muchmore 17.5 brushless motor, 2s lipo, Hobbywing esc and Savox low profile servo. The fan is mounted on a modified Tamiya part and is needed as it's running a fairly tall ratio (34/55) to make the most of the torque of the 17.5 motor. This makes it, in a straight line at least, as quick as a 1/10 touring car.

I haven't got a picture, but I had the Cheetah - I think it was either based on the LM-002, or was a prototype that eventually became the LM-002. Stupidly sold it, which I sorely regret!

Stock picture:

edit: FFS, I've just looked at prices on eBay, what an idiot I was!

Nice detail on the cockpit, do you recall the offset in the escort wheels ? want something that looks deep for the mk2 but don't want them to stick out too far.

I think you're referring to the 80s released Hilux with metal chassis, like the pink one 99t has above (rare).
I had the Hilux "Monster Racer" as released in the 90s (Also rare, annoyingly)

Yes correct, the racer is unlikely ever to be re-released from what I've read.

They selling at that? Would need to be a genuine NIB 58 series kit untouched, unbuilt.
