Love that exactly what I'm aiming to do.

Have you had to repaint many of them? I kind of started to think about this but know I'll come unstuck finding models in the right colours.

I have a collection of 1:43 models, 128 at the last count, all Lamborghinis. The vast majority are Minichamps and AutoArt, and are usually a good likeness to the real car. Norev are ok, so are Ixo (although I know of one or two that aren't that good). Kyosho are slightly better than Minichamps then there are the more expensive Looksmart and Make-up Models.

I have lots of 1:18s and 1:64s along with the odd 1:12 and 1:24, but 1:43s are a good size as you can build up a very nice collection without taking up too much space.
In my old showcase for cars (which was a showcase for some prices, but dumped most upstairs in a box) I also have some 1/43 Lambo's a few classics miura's in one picture you can zoom-in its the second row from above in that picture.
In that showcase I only have cars that I did not have had in the past, but cars I liked in small and maybe some to own one day when I win the lottery ;-)

All the cars I've owned are in the other page, in a aly showcase 200x90 enough for all the 122 cars I remembered (written down from long ago when I thought, ow... I'm going to get a lot of different cars... those were the days) most are the right type and color, some very hard to get... about 20 or so I still have to see and find the right color or type/model.

my old one, now in use for not my cars.

here in parts, otherwise not easy to get a reasonable picture... in the second row from above on the left the few Miura's, this one you can zoom in.

and this showcase I bought for all my own owned cars from the past, love it, fits precise between were I wanted it, built for that occasion.
its almost full, but room enough if needed to put in a few more for the rest of my time, it a sort hobby to find them and to look at them sometimes, to never forget, even when I forget, they will still be there to see hehe

Here's a couple of my favourite models... I'm currently on the look out for the rest of the Schuco Rover 75 series, but they're hard to get hold of now.

Very tempted with one of these IXO Jags at the moment - that blue is just lovely.

Sounds like you lot are having fun collecting cars you have owned in model form. I seem to have a habit of buying cars of which models are unavailable!

Currently I have:

3 Hillman Imps (2 Corgi, 1 Dinky) disassembled and resprayed, awaiting wheels and other bits for completion.
A Ford Fiesta Mk. 1 (Pilen) in the same state of repair.
Solido Porsche 944 (red) awaiting respray (black) and the correct wheels - which I shall steal from a 928.
Cavalier . Mk.1 MX-5 and Boxster S in the wrong colours, but I'll leave those as they're reasonably close.
Mark 2 Capri which I'll also leave, it's orange but mine was a 2.0S in white with black pinstripes and I don't fancy putting those on.
Have pretty much given up on the Rover 216, Mk 5 Escort, Peugeot 405 and Hillman Avenger.

Would have to buy, and build, the K&R Replicas kits for the Vitesse convertible and 2.5PI and they ain't cheap.

Recently bought this one, it's got the wrong wheels and it's a 2 Series (should be a 120) but at least the colour is correct.

ah, Rover 216se I also had long long time ago, it seems they not been made into 1/43 which I think is strange, but then never came across one, only a glass/plastic version sort of someone made.

so, for the time one pops up (if they ever made a few but out of roulatie) I bought a Ford Orion 1983 which looks a bit like it...

peugeot 405 is not difficult to find, they were made enough, just put a few seekers on ebay and or local websites.

Have had a look, there seem to be two in 1/43, the Altaya is the SR so the wheels are close but it's the wrong colour. Then there's the Norev which is an SRi so the wheels are way off, but does at least come in the same pale metallic blue that mine was. I'd rather find and fit new wheels than do a respray!

(And of course, both are left hand drive. But then so are many of the ones I have already.)

Corgi Vanguards do/did an Avenger, I had a real one and bought a model wrong colour though.

Bit pricey though - Altaya do a police version which can be had for a tenner or so, removing the roof sign will leave a hole to fill in which if I'm respraying anyway won't be a problem.

Forgot to mention that K&R Replicas do a huge range of wheels - Minilites, slot mags, RS turbo, pepperpots, wire wheels both cast and photo etched, even ordinary steel wheels and all complete with tyres. They have an eBay shop.

Another nice source of wheels is those Cararama models which can be picked up for a pound or two if you're lucky.

I was looking at starting a collection of all the cars I've owned but a, quick look online such as for my mk1 Toyota MR2 was eye wateringly expensive!!!

I've got heaps of 1:18 stuff in parents loft. But too big for my house to display.

Might have a rethink on the 1:43 plan

Nope - sold my Cup car more than 10 years ago. Kept the username, though.

I should have, but haven't. Many (most, I think) of the colours are wrong. Perhaps if I win the lottery I'll spend some of it on having a model maker colour correct all the wrong'uns.

Gulp. Just bought an SMTS 1:43 kit of the Aston I once owned.

None of my airfix kits ever turn out well. Im worried this might get ruined...

I bought an SMTS white metal kit to build to represent my Aston some 10 years ago, never built it Then Oxford Diecast produced an almost perfect replica so the SMTS is still unbuilt.
As an aside a chap, noticing my car at an AMOC event, chatted to me and said that it was his car on which Oxford Diecast used to base the mode - small world eh! smile

I had to buy one as well and indeed, the nice ones are mostly expensive, have a lot expensive one sadly and a lot not cars I wanted to buy, those were in between cars or trade in on some sport cars I've owned.

I bought this one, mine was all black, so I painted the colored lower parts.

now there also was this one brought out at some point longer ago, but did not came across one for a long time, so i bought that other one.

Yes, but all I can find are either A6 (I have that as the present substitute) or RS6; the S6 seems to have been omitted. Differences are small (wheels mostly) but they matter...

I have a small collection 1/43 cars and lorries, bought to populate my model railway, but the collection grew a little so a display cabinet became necessary.
Some of the lorries I have fitted with radio control so that they can earn a living running on the railway layout roads, transporting goods to the crane for loading onto the train.
