Christmas Group Build?
Discussion
Pretty much finished refining the nose detail. I ended up drilling the small hole and putting some plastic rod in it to form a slight recess. The larger oil filter access hole was scribed using a template. Still all needs a bit of final flatting to remove some of the primer build-up. It all took four attempts. For me, this is the worst part of trying to bring poor quality kits up to scratch:
Now to do battle fitting the wing.
Now to do battle fitting the wing.
After removing a ton of plastic to get the wing to fit without huge steps at the root fillets, I clamped in place and dotted some cement in the gereral direction of the gaps:
This was a mistake, becasue it made the dihedral too large, and asymmetric, with the port wing-tip way too high.
So I had to slice the glue line and prize the joint apart, add a plastic shim, and re-join, this time with a load of dissolved sprue in an attempt at reinforcement (and to fill the gaps that will need re-scribing. Deep joy.

My goodness, so much work for something so small!
You're not alone in persevering with your Christmas build, my 1/43 Heller Alpine A310 is nearly there. All my time on it seems to consist of trimming things back so painted and assembled components fit together reasonably well. Perhaps my bodyshell is more warped than just having some roof damage, or maybe that's just how it is. Had to slice a lot off the front edge of the dashboard where it met the windscreen, now I'm moving the rear axle forwards slightly.
Might get it finished today, or one day soon....

Yep, but at least there’s progress (even though everything g should have been completed during the holidays! You're not alone in persevering with your Christmas build, my 1/43 Heller Alpine A310 is nearly there. Flatted back the sprue filler:
Not bad on the port side:
But the other side left a groove for some reason:
so I've use Surfacer 1000 for that:
The Spitfire has a subtle anhedral/dihedral feature at the rear wing root, which has been partially lost in assembly and filling. It's taken a while, but it's getting there:

Taking this advice on board
It'll suit alongside it's Lego big brother

Don't be demoralised - model to the standard that suits you.
And since I got given this model as a Christmas present in January I'm including it here. It's not a patch on some here but I've enjoyed building it and won't look too closely, not that you need to, to spot the flaws. It'll suit alongside it's Lego big brother

Fun isn't it?! Show us your next one!
When I can get the primer and paint off this I'll get back to it(and the accompanying submarine/ destroyer).
Meanwhile......
Both started long before that car turned up. Mind you there are several others in progress that aren't even on the desk!
What scale is the truck? Looks bigger than 1:76, but I’m sure I had one of those platform trolleys in the background - mine was green, Hornby IIRC?

All looks very productive!

Good spot. It was green until Christmas when I painted it.What scale is the truck? Looks bigger than 1:76, but I’m sure I had one of those platform trolleys in the background - mine was green, Hornby IIRC?
The truck says 1:72.
Not quite sure they all add up though.
