Christmas Group Build?
Discussion
Soooo.
I was kind of excited thinking by the end of this week i could eventually show my Crimbo build.
But,
After enjoying building the Rokr V8 vintage build (a gift from my daughter), i cracked on with my Super Delta integrale (a gift from my Wife).
Its built,(mega fiddly) its painted (to I'm happy enough standard).
I had only to add the decals......... And they just fell apart when fitting them.
Now im not a quitter (stubborn i think is the word) i have tried to fit what i can , but it will no longer be fully sponsored by Martini.
Add sad, grumpy face.

My "Christmas build" may be built by next Christmas if I'm lucky!
It's my first model for at least 40 years and I'm learning as I go. I'd never used an airbrush until this model and I have to say, it's a revelation!
I'm having to build it on the dining room table, which greatly pleases Mrs Hippy - but she brought it as a present, so can't complain too much that I'm enjoying myself.
It'll never match the standard of any of you guys, but I'm pleased with how I'm doing. Lots of room for improvement, so don't look too closely!
1:32 Lancaster... Progress so far:

Looks fine, and well done for completing it, but how come you didn't just get some more decals? Please forgive the decals they are a mixture of ones that survived and some i found in my bits box. |https://thumbsnap.com/dD5MvZx7[/url]

(those are out of stock, but I guess others are available - might even get some spares from Hasegawa?)
After much re-scribing and re-re-scribing, and filling, and re-filling:
I'm ready to fit the tailplanes and rudder. Here it is next to a Mk1 I'm building (which is at a similar stage of build):
Interesting to see the increased size of the tail surfaces between the Mk1 and the Mk22, in line with the extra power and torque of the Griffon engine:

Good to see you're persevering with it.Finally got mine finished this morning:
Seen here in the company of a 1:55 Majorette I picked up at a recent toy fair, by coincidence. I also have the Airfix 1:24 version to build at some point (not a great kit, originally by Grip then later reboxed by Heller).
Certainly not one of my best builds. The roof was damaged and my modest attempt to rectify it didn't work. There was no positive attachment between floorpan and bodyshell, so I used superglue which of course fogged the glass slightly.
That being said it was good just to keep building something and useful to try the Gundam chrome marker, I'd say that worked well - not a replacement for BMF, but it definitely has its uses. The bronze paint and Halfords clearcoat worked out well, giving a decent shine without being polished. The elderly decals just about worked (one of the plates split in half) and overall it looks decent in the cabinet, along with the 1:43 Princess I buil several years ago.
Heller seem to be on good form at present and I'll look out for others in the 1:43 range and maybe the odd 1:24 when I visit France this summer.

Hi , finally got the petrol tanker finished after getting distracted by another big project.
Nice kit , have bought another ( recovery truck version ) to slightly modify to match our life size resto project :-)

Cheers for now

Excellent work. Why not start a build thread for the new one? There aren't too many actual build threads on here these days.Nice kit , have bought another ( recovery truck version ) to slightly modify to match our life size resto project :-)

Double oh , also have airfix 1/24 typhoon , mosquito and old version spitfire bought during lockdown but never got round to starting......... think I’m going to need more glue
:-)

Cant believe this was supposed to be a Christmas build, but anyway, now got the radiator housings fitted and filled:
Now for the canopy, but before that, I need to figure out the gunsight. This amorphous blob is what's in the kit (unless I've misunderstood the instructions):
It's so badly moulded I honestly don't know how it's supposed to fit. I'll end up making another I guess.

The windscreen was too narrow for the fuselage, but the canopy was OK.
I sprang the canopy together slightly using masking tape:
Then put the windscreen and canopy in place over the cockpit to get aignment correct, before wicking some liquid cement into the joint:
Once it set overnight, I removed the tape and the canopy pulled the windscreen out, so now it's a better fit.
Cobbled together a gunsight from scrap plastic and acetate:
And got the canopy fitted:
