The Heller kit is the first facelift of the A310, it has the smaller front lights already.
So it could either be chrome or black, albeit most of them were black.
Thanks. I'll give it a go with foil, as I think it will look better with chrome against the bronze paintwork, but if it doesn't go well then it's helpful that I can revert to black.....So it could either be chrome or black, albeit most of them were black.
As I’m going boxart with the Hunter, so after masking off the silver the tail was sprayed white followed by yellow with a little bit, maybe too much, orange. Airfix supply a decal for the black checker’s, not sure if I should use that or attempt mp to mask and paint.
Letting the paint dry, will then mask off the yellow and paint the grey.

Masked up the yellow, put down the grey coat, then masked for the cammo
On unmasking found a couple of small spots where the paint had lifted, a couple of paint bleeds, but also a lot of adhesive residue from the tape - anyone got any suggestions for removing this without stripping all the paint?
Had no problem on the underside where I’d used Tamiya tape

I’ve made a bit of progress - finally got the re-scribing done to a decent standard:
And added the beginnings of the air intake from plastic rod:
Also drilled out the bulkhead fairing:
And cleaned-up and drilled the exhausts and u/c leg locks:
Drilled and slotted the harness aperture in the bulkhead:
And began removing the odd shaped gun barrels from the fairings, to be replaced by brass tube:
Found a flaw in the windscreen moulding, which I hoped would disappear with Klear, but no such luck. Seems to be a flaw within the part:
So yet another spare part request to Airfix, and am now waiting for what I fully expect to be another part with an identical flaw to arrive.

I’ve made a bit of progress............
Good to see you're carrying on with it.Making decent progress with my little Heller kit. Despite the cold, wet conditions yesterday I managed to get some clearcoat on and dry without it blooming - as soon as I'd sprayed the parts I held them in front of a fan heater, then they went into the boiler cupboard later on.
If it was larger scale I would polish it, but it's fine as it is. The colour looks much richer than these photos under LED light suggest.
Interior also assembled, so I can see how it all fits together.....
Looking good guys and enjoying following this thread to see how you are all getting on. Zero progress myself over Christmas - my wife made me move all my in-progress kits out to our storage barn before her folks turned up for Christmas. We all then got Covid, the in-laws duly disappeared before they got the lurgy too but I can’t yet face starting my models again. Got a Tamiya Kubelwagen and Stug IV almost done and got a Pz 4D over Christmas too. Sadly I can’t really airbrush in our house so have to continually troop over a lane to our leaky old barn where I do my projects - it’s a royal pita and puts me off tbh.
Anyway keep up the good work

My stepson asked me to make him a model plane for his room, not built one in 20 years so I won't post the results!
Reading through this thread and Dr's threads I need to up my game for my next attempt.... the shopping list is growing.
I've got myself a 1:144 apache kit to take with me on a 3 week work trip to Canada from next week to try and do in the evenings, going to be small and fiddly but I can fit it in a lunchbox in my suitcase quite easily.

It’s going together quite well so far , not Tamiya quality and the plastic is soft in comparison but hopeful this will stop any parts snapping whilst being cut off of the spru’s. I did a trial fit of the two Tank halves , going to be hard to get them to join well as only have four tiny pin and socket locators in the corners , nothing along the length of the tank .Geoff391 said:

Lovely diversity here, great idea of yours dr_gn. Thanks.
Will post in a bit, found some hidden rust in my DUKW....
No problem. Didn’t go quite as expected for me, but it’s nice to see quite a few models getting started. I called at my Mum’s yesterday, and completely by chance she had daytime BBC news on TV. To my amazement, there was a feature on Airfix, and how modelling had really taken off again during lockdown. They featured the Spitfire that Robemcdonald is building. Made in England apparently. They showed a bloke checking the sprues against a template. Had to chuckle at that. Will post in a bit, found some hidden rust in my DUKW....
So for the first time, I’ve enjoyed some progress tonight. After midnight, everyone else in bed - concentrating on detail painting:
Ended up making a control column out of some scrap plastic from the spares box, and a photo-etched rivet. The Q.C. Bloke must have missed that one:
Also did a bit of a check on colours. The underside colour XF-83 looked way too dark until side-by-side with the upper Ocean Grey and Dark Green:
I can only hope Airfix send me a decent windscreen, otherwise it’s all for nowt.

Plastech in Newhaven, there are a few videos about it on YouTube, various factory tours etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGzXWzYo_xk
Playing with the DUKW has changed how I want to finish and present it. I had the idea to load it with cargo to add interest, cut off a triangle slice of the hull and pose it at an angle leaving water but every cut-line I taped seemed to diminish rather than add to the imposing, ponderous nature of the thing. Not surprising really!
So it's going to be as Airfix intended back in '66, on a Matchbox base, just like other contemporaries I've built.
I just had to thin down the massive mg ring though..and replace the thick pegs with wire:
Cut the lumpy half off a Matchbox LRDG kit base...just made for the DUKW:
Mocked up after spraying bits with Humbrol aerosols and applying the decals:
Now for the funniest bit; making it dirty!

Memories for me late 80s early 90s I worked summer seasons on Southport beach....the lifeguards had a few DUKWs they used to get across the beach and to the sea (tide retreats a long way off the coast at times here)So it's going to be as Airfix intended back in '66, on a Matchbox base, just like other contemporaries I've built.
