Roop any myself are on there, I have Avante, Monster Beetle, etc. He has more than me thanks to Birthdays & Christmas's
I also went to Japan and took in the Tamiya HQ where I met Mr.Tamiya himself.

I sold Roop that Tamiya Grass hopper some time back. great to see the pictures on there of it looking so great. It wasnt in too bad a condition but he has done a fine job restoring it.

Watch this space - the Brat is being re-released and should be in the UK in a few weeks.

I guess with Tamiya starting to re-release all the old RC cars will kind of kill off the 'collectable' market for the old ones. These old ones will soon be joined by 1000s ofnew ones on the open market and I know which one I'd go for to rekindle my first RC car - the Subaru Brat
Good luck finding a TFE. Hard to get. The TFE was never re-released, only the base TF and there's a lot of differences as you will know. I know someone who has a new built one, but it's unlikely to be for sale - besides, I have first dibbs on it...!

I know its kind of hi-jacking another thread but does anyone have a vintage top force evo to sell not the repro? I saw one on ebay a while ago and took me back to when i competed at regionals with one. If anyone has one or anything similar i'd be interested to hear from you.

The eternal Tamiya collector's question...! Possibly as it's simple, but lots of cast metal parts which are expensive to produce and ship compared to plastic. I also don't think Tamiya will want to harm the collectors or the really old stuff, but I will wait and see - they hold their cards very close to their chest.

Will the sandscorcher ever be rereleased? I quite fancy a beetle type buggy with the metal bits. I've still got my super champ from when I was a lad, It still runs fine.

I had a Subaru Brat body and wheels on my '85 Hornet. That was rather quick in a straignt line with it's 540, against the brats 380 motor. Didn't like the corners much though! Hopefully they'll release it again sometime.
Hornet has already been re-released - it was the first of Tamiya's re-releases...

Both are available - kit and XB (eXpert Built)

are these re releases like the originals in that you build everything, diff, chassis, steering etc or do they come straight out of the box built?
i doubt im on my own here when i say half the enjoyment of these cars is buildning them then painting the body shells

I'd be surprised - and delighted - if any of the aluminium cars were re-released, either Sand Scorcher/Rough Rider/F150/Super Champ or Hilux/Blazer: the costs must be way higher than for injection-moulded ABS and I suspect that their complexity would limit the market?
I completely used-up my Sand Scorcher - it was built from s/hand parts to begin with and I had two chassis, one ultra short wheelbase that put the battery on the rear crash cage to facilitate wheelies...
Eventually there wasn't a single component that wasn't either worn out or damaged beyond the umpteenth repair. Much like the XR311 that preceded it, in fact - although that got a new lease of life when I invented a set of torsion bars for it made out of coathanger wire.
I now have an SVO Mustang which is on the TA02 chassis and converts to a Chevy pickup when required plus a buggy - shaft-drive 4WD with adjustable anti-roll bars, I think it's a Baja Champ? Polycarbonate shell with a separate wing. Both are hugely quick but don't have anything like the sense of occasion that the Sand Scorcher did.

Wow !
Never been in this part of the PH forum before, but I'm very glad I dropped in now.
I've always wanted a Tamiya RC car - I remember spending hours and hours pouring over the glossy catalogues back in the early 90s.
'The Blackfoot' was the object of my desire back then but alas, Dad decided that they were too expensive and being thirteen years old with no income of my own, it never happened
Anyone know if there are plans for a 'Blackfoot' re-release ? If not it's going to have to be 'the Hornet'...

The Blackfoot won't be released, at least not in it's original form. Tamiya currently make something called the Blackfoot Extreme. You migth want to check it out. Similar priciple but more modern chassis.
Not sure how long The Hornet will be around, so snap one up if you want one.

Go check out Tamiya's web site as they are releasing all the original RC cars including the Subaru Brat which was my very first proper RC car
Will impact big time those ebayers trying to keep the prices of the old classics alive and kicking
