Hi all,

I'm new on this forum. Quite a classic car nut and enjoying classic rallies very much. Another passion of mine is modifying scale models. My aim is to make them look like an existing car.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

This Citroen ID 19 looks fairly basic

But is based on these models

I must say that is an excellent image which really gives the impression of these being real cars.

Back in 2010, I designed the Black Pearl model, from original plans from Disney:

Looks good - is it using the Top Studio detail kit?

A page with some of the best modelling I have seen for years

Inspirational stuff, I love the Fiat 500 (Abarth?) and the Black Pearl especially but it's all very nice.

reminds me: make no more ships or cars... smile

Thanks Dr. - it certainly is with the Tamiya kit as the base. Have also used a number of other aftermarket PE sets for the unique parts that some of these parts included (such as the cam covers with the raised etched "Mercedes-Benz" logos

Absolutely love the Black Pearl! I was @ the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam last weekend. Quite a few ships like the Pearl on display. I cannot take my off models like that.

I've got some engine detail pics if you'd be interested in them?

ETA in fact, just see post #52 here:

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topi...

I'd be very interested in seeing your build as a separate thread.

Not the most complete WIP but one can be found below, as you might notice this is a long timer:

http://www.f1m.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t...

Thanks for the pictures, wish I had seen them before!

Don't think I will be able to go back and add more detail to the engine at this stage as I had it completed in my mind - also adding the engine braces (4th picture down on your link) means its very difficult to do anything without some of the wiring being disturbed.

However the steering wheel pictures are fantastic - this is the next part I am working on and the reference pictures I have don't show these in particularly good detail whereas you have both wheels and a picture from the back smile

Thanks again!

Looking great in the thread. I did a similar thing recently with the Tamiya XJR9-LM.

Yeah, I remember there was a McLaren mechanic letting people have a go with the steering wheel gear paddles and explaining what everything did. Beautifully engineered and the feel of the mechanism was like silk.

I remember those wheels and tryes were amazingly light too - I could easily lift them with one hand.
