Here is my lockdown project, almost complete.

It’s my grandfather’s WW2 Armed Tree Class Trawler HMS Walnut in 1/72 scale. Built by Smiths in Middlesbrough, she mainly did convoy escorts, mine clearance and anti submarine work out of Portsmouth. She then went on after the war as one of only two Tree Class to survive, to run a humanitarian mission as the SS Walnut taking Estonian refugees from Sweden to new lives in Canada where she is now fondly remembered as part of subsequent generations’ history.

Hull is from an old Matchbox Flower Class corvette kit that was made up in the 80s and in a poor state in my grandfathers attic (since re-released as a kit by Revell), cut down to correct size by about 25% - about 60cm long. Rest of the boat is scratch built from plasticard to photos and a few fittings and fixtures from the corvette kit used, as well as a few ship bits from model boat suppliers. It’s a very different superstructure design to the flower class.

It’s radio controlled, sea trials will commence when the rest of the rigging is on, crew added and I can work out how to eliminate vibration in the prop shaft. Her maiden voyage will be the boating pond in Portsmouth, in memory of my grandfather and his crew.

If it's canoe lake you are sailing on I'll be ready for you with my Narvik!! Not quite up to your level of detail though I am afraid to say.

Tempest, It will be canoe lake. Great pic - and looks like an interesting model. Can you share some more please?

I use those Impreza's and others in the same range as parts cars as I put the driver figures in other builds.

Here you go,

Maiden voyage, on canoe lake. I used to work up at Airbus in Hilsea and would occasionally sneak down at lunchtime.

More complete,

I got the plans from a magazine back in the eighties. It is a simple semi scale one as you can see. All scratch built.

Parents having a clear-out has seen me reunited with my small Tonka (and Spanish licenced version) truck collection, all of which are 40+ yrs old.

Quite pleased with that, the skip lorry in particular's pretty cool & might be re-purposed to hold paperclips.

I used the aerosol that I bought for repairs on the real life example. Less issues with rust on the smaller one though.....

Funny how "subtle" can stop you in your tracks...your pickup is just perfect ! I hate the word stance but that's bob-on, period colour, no fashionable riveted-on arches and of course quality build. Thanks for sharing and crack on to the next!

Range Rover Sport in 1:14 scale:

This is a model produced by Chinese manufacturer, RW Jianfengyuan Toys, and it makes an excellent realistic scale display model. If you want to see this model in close-up then google search "BlackSeaRC".

A bit of a work in progress.

Another revell car this time the or Porsche 934 RSR in the Jägermeister colours.

I’m at the decal stage now, so thought I’d get some pictures before the inevitable issues begin....

After this is finished my next job is to complete the corvette and then something completely different.
