I sometimes think ugly cars make the best models! Tank Bugatti, Cunningham Le Monstre, any F1 since about 1968, etc.

Wow that's quite timely- I've just started the Academy SR-71 from 1986. My dad bought it but never got around to making it- I was born in 84 so no surprises there! hehe

Got most of it assembled the other night (all 30 odd parts!), ready for priming and painting at the weekend. Will get some photos up shortly!

Yours looks superb thumbup

What sites do you use to find specific models you're looking for?
I'm looking for a Renault F1 Espace by Otto and a Jag XJ13 by Autoart and whenever these come up for sale, people tend to ask very high amounts of money...

I realised I didn't have a VF Commodore Supercar so this was purchased to fill the gap - Jamie Whincup's 2016 number 88. Sealed diecast by Classic Carlectable. Number 577 of 750.

Just finished this. Hasegawa 1/24 Toyota Celica 1600GT, been sitting around for ages. Not the best images.

Very nice. Did it go together well? I have one in the stash.

Another iconic 1970s Japanese car here that I finished last night:

Built largely out of the box, with the lowered suspension option (including real springs!) and fitted with Aoshima accessory wheels. Painted with Tamiya TS-21 Gold and TS-13 clear aerosols. Side windows cut out to emphasise the pillarless shape. A.K.A. Datsun 280C to us in the UK. In terms of quality/accuracy I'd say it's below Tamiya and Hasegawa, and the front end in particular took quite a bit of work with foil needing to be added around the various grilles and the rear end is a little misshapen, but it looks effective now complete.

Already moved on to my next projects, rebuilding these five Tamiya kits that got damaged in the sun when I took them to a show and left them on my dashboard (silly boy).

All of the new bodyshells have been painted and polished, they're now at various stages. On some I could re-use almost nothing, and some wheels have since been pinched for other builds, so they won't be identical. I fancied a colour change for this Toyota:

Just about to go out to the shed and get this one finished. Snapfix kit with simple but effective detail, it looked good first time around and it's gone OK so far this time.

Really? I've always liked the look of the short car, and I'm still annoyed I didn't buy one when they were cheaper. Although that applies to the normal cars, too.

€300. Maybe I'll leave it. biggrin
Oh, that's nice to know. I paid a bit for it, but it wasn't anywhere near that much. This one was much cheaper, at a merchandise sale at Bentley Motors a few years ago. Just the "unclothed" bit.

Lovely stuff, planes, no trains and automobiles, love seeing it all. Please keep posting everyone!

P.S. Spottedlaurel, have you a spotted Laurel signature build on the go?!

Hmmm, no Laurels on the go at present, but of course there are a few in the stash.

Currently got about 10 or so builds in progress, most started relatively recently but a couple dating back to the '90s which I'm looking to get back onto over winter.

Toyota now finished:

That sun damaged Honda is crying out to be used in a crash diorama.

Not the first time I've heard that :-)

I have another four that suffered to varying degrees. Maybe they'll end up as wrecks stacked out the back of a garage diorama.
