Just finished this one, its airfix skyhawk in Argentine colours. I'm pretty happy with how its turned out.

Lovely job Rob, but isn't that Dustin Hoffman reprieving his Tootsie role?

I built one a little while ago. Great little kit. One of airfix best in my opinion.

So The Battle of Britain lied to us?

Sadly yes...

A bit of pre-work effort saw number two complete (although the pictures show a couple of things to fix)

Going to try and do number three at lunch time.

Excellent, never thought I'd see Hoffman, Hakkinen and Boycie in the same scene!

Not all! If anything you've done much more than a generic colouring job and they immediately identify as real people to me!

I dug out a picture of one of my first builds from a few years ago.
Not really much improvement. I guess the new ones are a bit smaller at 1/48.

What sites do you use to find specific models you're looking for?
I'm looking for a Renault F1 Espace by Otto and a Jag XJ13 by Autoart and whenever these come up for sale, people tend to ask very high amounts of money...
Unfortunately those two are both long-since sold out, you're only going to be getting them second hand and demand has pushed the prices up. The XJ13 is a lovely model that's very desirable, though I can understand why £300 is a bitter pill. You won't find many brand new models on that level for a similar price and it's definitely one of Autoart's best. I'd recommend just setting yourself an alert on eBay and putting in a slightly cheeky offer on any that have a Best Offer available, the worst they can do is say no.

Great username BTW, assuming it comes from where I think it does smile

I'm afraid you are right. Just bought the Espace F1 for a value that is significantly above the original sticker price, but still happy to have it in the end.
Not sure I can bring myself to GBP300 levels though...

My user name is the title of a Therapy? song, and is also quite applicable as a way to describe my MGB GT V8 smile

I’d keep an eye on some of those prices.

I always the check the value of my collection about twice a year and I looked at pricing about a month ago and some of my rarest cars 1/43rd were being sold for around £120 less than they were in May!

Admittedly, a few had gone up a little bit but nowhere the falls in values.

beer Big fan of T?. On the subject of paying over the odds, I recently spent £50 on their Wood & Wire album as I couldn't get to the acoustic shows where they were selling it and missed the leftover copies they sold online afterwards. I had an eBay alert set up and it was only the second time I've seen it on there. Still hurt the wallet though!

Congratulations on the Espace. I've only gone over £200 for a model a handful of times so can understand the reluctance. Unfortunately models like the XJ13 are from a bygone era; AutoArt's recent stuff is nowhere close to the level of detail and their move to plastic bodies has put a lot of collectors off, whilst inflating the prices of classic models like that one. If you're not bothered about having the box, there's one in Germany at the moment that's bidding around €120.

That XJ13 in Germany might have been on my radar already angel

Most I spent was on a BBR Ferrari 275 GTB NART (1 of 36) and an AutoArt Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale.
Still happy with both, and looking forward to the new additions.

On the topic of recent additions, do other people here have experienced damage to models they have received recently?
The Espace had some damage (am fixing it), and the Kyosho Lancia Stratos HF lost its door (not sure how to fix that, if at all...)
