Airfix 1/72 impulse purchase...great nostalgia from building their kit in the 70s but pleasantly surprised it's been recently re-tooled very nicely, complete with poseable air brakes and such, just like the original. Chose to build for my own pleasure to purely enjoy the gorgeous shape of it..no it shouldn't be white but this isn't a replica, just my reaquaintance and enjoyment of the Sabre's lines. Love early jets!

Just a few I have on display.

My garage, loft & spare bedroom have around 2000 other models - cars, aircraft, helicopters & a lot of Lego!!!

Been meaning to put a couple of photos up of my (very) modest collection for a while now.
I’m not a photographer; as the following photos will attest to.
And it all badly needs dusting.

I can only ever find AutoArt models which I think are good enough quality to buy.
The HPI models are quite nice though. Picked them up at the NEC a few years ago for £60, down from £90.
The Christopher Ward is a nice D Type limited edition one but I don’t think it’s worth a great deal.
I also have a 1/12 AutoArt D Type which I ‘won’ from a recent Jaguar auction. Need to find somewhere to put that.
amongst other things included those 4 220 tins which I’m yet to find a suitable home.
Have plenty of other concept F Type brochures, XK180 stuff, 220 calendars etc
And, also, I’d like a No. 7 Speed 8 to go with my No. 8.

I also have two copies of Philip Porters XJ220 book and two copies of Driving Ambition (McLaren F1).
And the full set of Jaguar Danbury mint models with display ‘case’ in the garage.
Perhaps 20 cars or so. Maybe slightly more.

Nice collection!

Was following an auction for an Autoart D-type (the one you have, 1/18) on the 'bay last night, but at 320 euro it was too expensive for me...

Depending where you are in the world you should be able to get a 1/18 D Type for a couple of hundred quid.
C Types are a bit less, XJ13’s a little more.

The 1/12 are hideously expensive, and I paid a little more than I would have like to for mine, but still did alright out of it I think.

Those photos highlight how much I need to get my finger out and give them a display/platform worthy of their quality.

Finished a couple more of my sun-damaged replacement builds:

I didn't manage to do all five in this batch, but it's good to see these done and on the shelf again. I managed to use a fair bit of the original Silvia build on the replacement:

Much less so on the Skyline......

In the end I think it was just grille, as I didn't want quite so much camber on the back end, and maybe the rear lights.

I've achieved something of a record this year, with 17 kits completed. Seven of them were stalled WIPs that date back anything from four to almost 30 years. Might manage to finish one or maybe two more over the next week.

I like your distinctive build style Spotted. Imho really well chosen colours, wheel and detail choices, ride heights, very clean finishing and those subtle washes give a depth and character.
Airbrush or aerosol?

If you're using those old Humbrol enamels, I have to say very well done indeed!!

Thanks! Most of the time I build what I'd like to own or at least see at 1:1.

I usually paint them with Tamiya TS aerosols, occasionally something automotive if I want a specific colour (or if it was cheap/interesting when I visited Halfords or a local cars parts shop). Never tried an airbrush, I don't think I'd be scrupulous with maintenance and cleaning it and it would be wasted on me.

It's a long time since I used a pot of Humbrol enamel to brush-paint a body, but I used to when I was a youngster!

Through habit most of the time I still use Humbrol and Revell enamel tins for interiors, engines, suspension, detailing etc. I'm gradually going to the Revell colours as I work out what are the equivalents to the Humbrol tins I've been using for years. I tried brush-painting with Tamiya acrylics but I found it didn't go down as well as enamel.

I try and avoid masking whenever possible, and I find it quite satisfying to detail something with a brush.

After a quick squirt of primer this was all done by brush. Quite absorbing to sit there with some music on, concentraing on this and forgetting about the everyday hassle of work etc.

As a lifelong devotee to Halfords sprays I'm enjoying Tamiya's more and more...they're just so small and so expensive! Smell nice though.

Humbrol matt sprays I use on the little militaries work well as base coats for interiors too....and Halfords satin over everything 'soft' works for me!

3rd and final angry rampaging irradiated giant insect. Itch scratched!
And the fourth giant wasp tooling didn't make it past the initial run in the 70s so hen's teeth now.

Picked up the 3 easy reissued Ertl ones over the years for less than £20 a pop but have never seen the elusive wasp. Googling is failing me and, though I'm done with insects, can you point me in the right direction please Len?

Glue wasnt quite dry on the base when I took the photo, but a close up of the engine

Exhausts are Eduard, as is the instrument panel & seatbelts (not shown), 20mm cannon & pilot tube brass, otherwise stock.
The engineering on the engine cowling enabling it to be displayed open or closed is impressive, unfortunately the closed upper cowling dosn't work with the Eduard exhausts frown
