And another little diorama - Tamiya KV-1. Made this one mainly because bits of the 109 were annoying me by hiding on my messy workbench. Figures are MiniArt, only roughly placed for now as I'm not 100% sold on the placement, I'm also wondering what if anything I can use to fill the empty areas either side of the tank. OOB except for picture wire used for the tow cables instead of the supplied string.

Another lockdown build from me.
RC 1/96 scale HMS Javelin, a WW2 Royal Navy Destroyer ready to sail but not sea trialled yet. About 1m long.
This was a very tired, old, built Deans Marine kit of HMS Kelly bought off eBay, completely stripped to parts, and rebuilt as Javelin. Lots of scratch built bits to replace missing parts or add detail.
Really enjoyed the rebuild, probably took twice as long as buying a new kit due to research, problems to solve and getting it right.

/\ Wow, looks like a lot of work in that.
I finished up this rather long-term WIP on New Year's Day, started it back in the early-mid '90s. Loose replica of the Two Lane Blacktop '55 Chevy:

Didn't choose the best starting with the Monogram kit, as I had to add a centre pillar, and the kit itself isn't great. Quite a few mod's to get it looking like this, the most obvious one being cutting the wings off and joining them to the bonnet to create a one-piece front end.

That brings back some memories, it always seemed to be shown post kicking out time. I would sit through it in a surreal drunken stupor.
Not much dialogue, if I remember correctly!
Indeed, and none of the people have names. I like the pointless style of it. I was going to say natural, but as I didn't experience circa 1970 America I can't be a judge of that...... Not much dialogue, if I remember correctly!

2 oldies 'gifted' by our model club's secret santa this year.....enhanced by some resin wheels cast by a friend. Bosh bosh builds, no lacquer, black trim by felt pen, no time spent underneath, definitely purely shelf models, only for fun and to remove 2 more kits from our raffle/christmas stich-up pool of unwanteds from the merry-go-round.
Plastic waffle, because these things interest me: Both kits show copyright date of 1976 on instructions and boxes.
Monogram 930 (blue) is only 24 parts but while a simple, almost snap-together kit, shape, crispness and detail is remarkable, minor gripe being rear window shape only. I can compare favourably against Fujimi's enthusiast 911s of which I'm familiar... That said the Fuchs are not worth working on but they're in the wheel drawer never to be used anyway.
Revell (silver) '74 RS has been reissued recently complete with original 2-piece tyres...I feel the disappointment of anyone who thought they bought a reasonably modern kit...it's a historical piece now but an ambitious kit in it's day having started life earlier than '76 being stamped 1970 on base, suggesting tooling must have been updated from a now irretrievable original pre-930 model. Full floor 'metalwork', engine and 'box, separate interior door panels...missing in my part-started mess..stuff fits as good (poorly) as a 50yo kit would but it does come with a navigator's clip-board and pen! 2-piece tyres and flashy, in the wrong sense, chrome wheels again for the bin.

I am saving up for a Deans 1/96 HMS Dido, one the loc is finished ( hopefully a picture of the completed tender will be up once the last bits of brass arrive
The parts list for Dido isnt the most helpful so once i have all the pennies to hand will visit them to get the correct bits
What is the superstructure made of?

/\ They look really good!
I have no experience of the Revell version, but if the Monogram kit is like the Datsun 280Z and Ferrari 308 GTB then I can imagine it will build up into a nice little display item.

I can't recommend the Revell 74 RS at all, Fujimi's is immeasurably superior, but I'm still amazed at how well modelled Monogram's so-simple 930 is!
Funny you mention their 280Z:
Yet another came with the Porsches....with a surprise addition of a Revell Z body in the box! Such is the pot-luck, pig-in-a-poke gamble when buying or swapping with club friends...
Revell's body shape really shows how clunky and simplified Monogram's is, felt obliged to put SOME curvature in the rear valance as I can't bring myself to use the chunky bumpers to hide the squareness..
Shame there's so little of the Revell kit, too much missing to cobble something together. Hey ho!
