Refresh of a kit I first chucked together back in the mid '80s
Love a survivor! Great to see the Bel Air running center-lines, box snorkel, high at the back...80s street racers are cool again!

The little repair session this eve has enthused so will get those SLC decals on asap.

Cheers Spotted!

Work in progress, 1/72 Airfix Swordfish.

Having not built a kit for a few years, I’m using this Swordfish to experiment with a few paint techniques relating to weathering and different surface finishes. I’m trying out different approaches to simulating differences between the fabric sections and the metal-skinned sections.

During the war, my late grandfather served in the Fleet Air Arm as a radio engineer, during which he flew in the back of the odd “Stringbag” out in Newfoundland, so the type has a special interest for me.

Still working on the wings, the plan will be to display the model with the wings in the folded configuration; takes us less space to appease my wife! Although built OOB, the paint scheme isn’t exactly following the kit markings. I’ll be using some of the decals but the actual camouflage detail is slightly fictitious, mostly because I’m using it as a test bed for the aforementioned weathering bits.

Here is my most disappointing model car build.
An ITALERIA kit. Flash on parts, terrible fitting and really poor detailing.

In the end i had to bodge the rear engine clam that should of fitted easily.

I just tried to polish a turd and get my fine detail hand painting better.

For what sounds like a terrible kit you should be very happy with the results

Thanks for the kind words guys, its much appreciated.
I think as an engineer, fit and finish is everything in my job, so maybe with this kit i was expecting too much.

Just finished the MACH2 DH Comet 4.

Horrible kit.

All reviews spot on.

However its a good subject for me. I have the Brittania and VC10 to do. Want to build the 3 aircraft i travelled on following my late father around. He was a soldier in the royal signals. RAF air transport command mand flew us around.

Be gentle

Yes Straker's car, looked hand made from a solid piece of wood to me.

current wip, Fujimi McLaren F1 GTR

First few mist coats of clear after the sponsor decals. Have added a few washers here and there. Some minor touch ups needed.

Used tamiya curved masking tape for the arches, works well, better than I expected. Need to make sure the tape is taught.

Ride hight is nonsense, gutting the suspension out. Front suspension completely wrong. Wheels are rubbish, tempted to nab the set from the s27 kit I have lying around - but if/when I get to that kit stuck with the same problem...

Picked this up in a local auction recently for a, now obvious, an incredibly good price!

Even though I'm not much of a Schumacher fanboi, this is very nice!
Do you care to share how high your bid was?

Another one finished, 1/72 Airfix Fokker Eindecker, a nice kit but delicate.

£55 plus auction fees so £66 tots.

Difficult to actually find but they sell for between £250 and £500
