Despite Lewis's near miss, the UK did get an F1 World Champion this year.
Brian Saunders from Wolverton won the ISRA World Championship for F1 slot cars in Slovakia against a field of 85 drivers from 17 countries around the world including Brazil, the US, Italy and Sweden.
Up against three Italians, two Swedes a Czech and a Latvian in the eight man final Brian won by a single lap (five seconds or so) over the 40 minute race.
