Hi,

Decided to buy as many 1/43 models of cars I have owned as are available.

Can anyone give me a league table of quality from the manufacturers, as when I start looking on ebay etc, I can see big differences just on the pictures.

Regards

Jon

Can't really comment on the various die cast manufacturers of road cars as I don't collect them - however, have a look at some of the die cast kit manufacturers as well.

Sites like grandprixlegends.com will give you a good idea of what is available. But ebay is where the bargains and sometimes harder to find models might be available.

Post a list of the real cars & I will do my best to list the manufacturers (if any) that have made them in 1/43.

From my recent research and spending, a few names I know are good are; Minichamps, AutoArt, Kyosho.

Stick to only AUTOart, Minichamps and IXO.

Your best bet is to get them from eBay, forget the retailers and mail-order as they cost too much. Never pay more than £20 off eBay otherwise you are being screwed.

I was wondering if Spark models are any good as I've
not seen any close up.

I had a thread relating to Spark models here.

Seem's that they are resin cast.

Spark model are in deed cast from resin rather than the traditional metal cast items from the three brands I mentioned above. My experience of stocking these in the past was that resin models are far more fragile. In every box of spark models you'd always have one that was not perfect, where as the metal ones are far more robust.

Some great models from Spark which some others do not make, so you have to weigh up the pros/cons of resin models such as those from Spark
