Anyone here own/run a model shop?
Discussion
theres a rc shop opened up a couple of years ago near me.
they do cars planes and helis with about half the shop being parts.
they have a race track at the back and also hold heli evenings where you can fly indoors.
i dont know how he's doing but he's still open.
my friends who go there only buy replacement parts from there but buy their models off the net.

I was employed in a start-up model shop, in a large shopping mall in Scotland. The manager was a RC glider fanatic, winning trophies all over the world, and the two other staff used to sweep the board at RC car racing meetings, so everyone knew their stuff. (I ran a computer repair shop upstairs, part of the same business) The run up to Christmas was hectic, with high priced boy's toys being snapped up by daddy 'for the kids'. In the new year the rot set in, sales slumped, maybe one or two sales a week, which didn't pay the rent, and the business went tits-up after just six months.
The hassle from numpty customers who happily paid hundreds of pounds for an RC plane, refused the offer of flying lessons, and then blamed the shop when they flew it into the ground on the first outing just wasn't worth it.
