Just watched Jammes May's top toys recreate the Brooklands race circuit and get a Guiness world record for the effort and got me thinking, Could the PH masses better it?
Maybe Silverstone grand prix circuit?
How much planning would it take?
Could we gather the support to take his record from him?

What do we think?

I would willingly help with that.

Alas I only have the 'my first' version so track not compatible.

Thanks for that but not really talking about the program as a whole more just the idea of beating his world record.

Would we really want to steal the record from James May and Brooklands? Seems a bit harsh!

It is a lot of track needed. Just had a quick check and a straight is 175mm. Remember it all has to stick together, I don't think the older track sticks together the same.

Maybe a different PH record would be an idea.

You can buy convertor straights. What other records would be possible? Scalextric 24 hours?

Well the gadget show were part of the fastest scalextric, so that is out. I don't know how to find out what are the world records.

Donington.

If it's in any better condition than Brooklands that is.

As mentioned in the show you can't drive continuously from one controller due to electrical conditions.

Secondly can you imagine a load of PH'er turning up with tons of bent, scagged, rusty and well used track from their attics? even if you could fit it all together cleaning it and making it work would be a nightmare. I recently built a track from my old kit and even getting fairly good condition but old and well used track to work properly was a major ball ache.

You would need brand new track all round.

Then you have to try and power it? You would need thousands of extension leads of special batteries for all of the power bases.

I have a bucket of mud and a few lumps of concrete that I'm happy to chip in.

There wasn't enough on the history of Scalextric for me. The other programmes in the series told more about the history of the toy.

I thought exactly the same, very dissapointing compared to the previous shows in the series.

Yes, but what has that got to do with this thread?

Maybe you could complain in the TV thread.
