My daughter (yes, my daughter!) wants a radio-controlled 4x4 pickup with extra large wheels for Xmas.

Something like this:

but in blue!

Can anyone recommend where I can get one that would cost about £80 ish. The only ones I can find are considerably more than that. I'm not too fussed at this point in her radio controlled car career if it is not a genuine off roader that can go through mud etc, as I suspect that that would be even more expensive.

If anyone can advise, I'd be very grateful.

Ta!

Thanks Stuart!

Vanessa's Lunchbox? Is that a euphemism! wink

What about this: http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/carson-11...

I know it's a few quid more than I want to pay, but if it does the job etc. I assume it can genuinely go "off road"?

Not blue, but could soon be solved with a spray gun/can

Still the best bet long term:

http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/tamiya-11...

You would still need to get cheap 2 channel radio gear- will search shed this evening for you if interested, even if i cant find any it wont be more than £30.
You end up slightly over budget, but with a vastly better car to play with

A battery and a charger- i can rake care of that very easily

You also need to build it- about 5 hours
and spray it- whatever blue you like!!

The one you looked at seems ok, but the battery is very small- cant see it running for more than 5 mins tops- not ideal on christmas morning!

A little dearer again, but blue, and has all the running gear with it, so just a case of batteries in the transmitter............

Agree 100%

I bought one a few months ago after getting the bug again. The biggest gripe I always had 'back in the day' was the running times for r/c cars - about 7 mins!

I bought a pair of 4600mAh NiMh for my Lunchbox - they last almost an HOUR EACH smile

Honestly - buy a lunchbox. It's by far the best value for money. You WILL break stuff and parts for it are a doddle to get (loads on eBay).

Here's mine:

An hour?! What motor you got in that? Even Lipos would struggle to last that long

One of mine is stock, and lasts about 50 mins on the same pack.
