That really is a excellent model, I especially enjoyed reading about the way you modelled a specific aircraft which I guess gave added interest to the project with the research required e.g. like the picture you found of the aircraft and pilots on the field during wartime. smile
Thanks! I hope you appreciate the effort I made, for you specifically, with the background! hehe

Brilliant.

Worth the wait.
Cheers Eric. You'll be smugly amused to hear I already snapped the aerial wire off!

Indeed I did, in fact I nearly mentioned the staging of the pictures; clean base which displays the model perfectly and the blurred background because of the wide aperture but I thought you might have forgotten. smile

Ah, for a broken aerial wire you need to...

smile

I can only repeat what everyone will say, this is a brilliant model and you can be very proud of it

Excellent pre modelling research (my kinda guy!, always did that.)
Painstaking build skills
facinating "how to" with weathering and detailing

and bloody brilliant exposé of the ups and occasional downs of truescale modelling

I have loved it and want to thank you for letting us join in and feel we may have helped (or not frown )

Perdu,

Thanks for all your useful advice and knowledge on this thread - much apprciated and I'm looking forward to seeing build thread of your own!

Re. the weathering. The undersides were done with Tamiya "Weathering Master" pastels, which are incredibly good. Without any exaggeration, it took me about 2 minutes to do it! Like most Tamiya products, they just...worked.

Cheers,

Brilliant, if I had half the modelling talent I'd be happy.

Love the 1/32 motorbike - nice touch.

It's actually 1:35 getmecoat (built decades ago, but unearthed recently).

Thanks for the kind words, BTW I wouldn't say it's talent, more perseverence.

Hi, I've been sneakily keeping an eye on this since the off. I can only echo what has been said before, it's absolutely phenomenal.

Brilliant.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Mattiviatura: How did you get on with your own research?? Did you find any info on the Catalina/Sunderland?

Hope you're well Dr, I'm afraid that what with one thing and another I haven't even started yet but you've kicked my backside into action, I'll get the ball rolling today. I'll let you know when I get anywhere.

Rich I've not got any info on a specific 'plane but that's a great looking aircraft.

Well, if you find anything out about a specific aircraft (Catalina or Sunderland), or even better get hold of a photo, the offer still stands to build one for you.

That's very kind of you, as promised I'll email you what I find out. It's been on a back burner while I've had to sort a lot of other things out but I will get around to it.
