Hi guys, would any of you know if there's anywhere I can get a replacement aerial for a Gulf DBR9 Le Mans 2008, the front one of the two wire roof aerials has snapped.

Grand Prix Models? Type in "aerial" in the search box:

Might be worth giving them a call - you didn't mention scale or manufacturer, but there are aftermarket ones as shown above.

I have added ariels to cars of several scales by making my own- especially when they're not supplied by the manufacturer.

To do this, take a straight piece of waste polystyrene sprue. Heat whilst stretching it to the required length over a candle.

Then cut it down to the correct size when cooled. This may take a few attempts but it can be very effective.

Or you could use stainless wire, but either way you don't get the aerial bases, which are included with the aftermarket items. Not sure what's on his original model, but presumably it would include some kind of mounting.

Cat whiskers are also very good for this sort of thing. The only problem is what to do with the rest of the cat.

In fact they're the, er cat's whis...

Never mind.

The rest of the cat will be fine: it's how you go about attaching the replacement ariel with both your hands wrapped in bandages that's the challenge.

biggrin good answers but would like to get a replacement rather than try and make one, the model is the AutoArt ltd edition from Aston Martin, 1/18 scale. The aerial is the wire type with a base and it screwed into the roof.

Thanks all for the replies so far

Cheers
Mike
