Negligible difference, you wouldnt be able to tell
Especially with cheap ESCs and servos anyway.

Am interested in a cheap 2.4GHz stick radio though. Any links.
Too early to say if its any good but its a tempting price and lots of features!

That does look really good value. I cant offer any advice here unfortunately as I dont have much experience at the lower end of hte market. My radio gear of choice is KO....

A guy at my club has just got one of the Core setups and I'm waiting to see how well it works.
I have the KO, but running the Spektrum module, fantastic bit of kit, but a bit pricey, especially when compared to the Core setup!

My online shop is www.pit-bitz.com and we've sold quite a few of the Core Rc radio's They are imported and distributed by Schumacher who have an excellent back up service. Only issue at the moment is that they have sold out.

Regarding an inexpensive car I would agree that the ansmann is a reasonable make. Very similar build quality to the normal Tamiya stuff. If you dont have a specific use (carpet track, tarmac, off road track etc..) then I would consider somehting like a Royal Flash. http://goldstarstockists.net/live/catalog/product_...

The short course trucks are very popular at the moment. They have a wide footprint so very stable on grass, gravel etc.. but not ideal if you intend doing too many jumps. The very soft suspension means the chassis can take a battering if you are jumping of high curbs etc..

If you are looking for something cheap and good value, I can recommend the ansmann macnum truggy kit at £50, a set of bearings@ £10, a decent 19 turn motor with speedo to take it and a 5000 mah lipo battery. Motor, speedo and lipos can all be picked up cheap now second hand.
27 or 40 mhz gear is plenty good enough and cheap but the radio gear in your boat will be fine if you want to use it.
You can of course upgrade later to use the ezrun brushless setup if you need more go as they are very good for the money.
Ansmann parts are cheap compared to others and easily available.
You definately need the bearing set as the bushes that come with the kit allow too much play in the gearbox and you will strip them and the spur gear within an hours hard running.
I easily get 20 plus minutes run time from mine and its fast.
I chose the macnum over the madrat as it comes with bigger wheels which makes it more versatile. Have used it indoors on carpet and raced it and also outside for mucking about and for the mopney it cannot be beaten.
Tamiya gear cant touch it for the money.
