Are there any PH model builders in the Bristol area? If so, you may like to check out the Avon Scale Model Society. We've been going now for nearly thirty years and cater for all types of scale modelling activity, kit builders, kit convertors, scratch builders etc, in all scales and all materials.

Obviously aircraft enthusiasts predominate but we have members who do vehicles, AFV's, ships and so on. My particular interests are 1/43 cars and 1/72 aircraft although I'm probably likely to remain the club's only modeller of attractive young ladies from Japanese anime!

We meet on the third Thursday of every month at the Longwell Green Community Centre, Shellards Road, Longwell Green, Bristol. (By the way that's the original Bristol, the one in England and not Illinois or whatever.) We have a monthly competition with points scoring towards a Modeller of the Year Trophy, in addition the winning model each month comes back at the end of the year to be voted again in the Model of the Year Trophy. Results are announced and trophies handed out at the annual club dinner.

Anyone interested in attending should PM me with an email address or telephone number for more details.

Probably worth asking for a sticky for this one if you modify the heading a tad

I'm in favour of a "where to model" thread

I might even find one for me

If you mean the Peter Vill who is an expert on Soviet WW2 aircraft and incidentally an extremely skilled modeller, yes. But he is a member of Avon IPMS not our club.

Yup, that's the fella. Top bloke. He's my guru (via. a very complicated and unlikely series of events). I've been trying a lot of techniques he's told me about on my last three or four models. Makes it a lot easier when there's someone like him to give advice.
