Have been using the Tamiya masking tape & very impressed, thanks for the suggestions guys, done the job nicely!

A part that i have sprayed (acrylic), now needs to be masked up, how long would you give it before applying masking tape to the freshly painted section?
Is it gloss? If so I'd say a few days. If it's matt, overnight. Whatever, leave them in a warm place!

BTW I've found out that Maskol dissolves most acrylics too (ammonia content again). Looks like it's only any use for Enamels.

It's from a different era really. I find the Micromask product much less aggressive.

I bought it because it looked nice and pink and seemd really useful. The reality is I've never used it in anger. I did some test pieces which left me a bit disappointed, then I found out about the compatibility issues. In fact thinking about it, I think the only application that this type of fluid might be better than Tamiya tape would be masking flush 'porthole' type glazing in fuselages or boat hulls. Even then it would only be a minor time saving issue.

For speeding up the drying process I can heartily recommend a dehydrator. Unlike an oven, these have air flow through them. Best to get one with a temperature control though.
