Hi,

This is the one you are looking for .......

http://www.smtsmodels.demon.co.uk/catalog/classicb...

SMTS Models - though on the model itself it is marked Bulldog Models underneath. You can get it assembled and painted, or you can build it yourself if you are handy at model-making....unlike me !

Build it yourself. They're a very very simple kit and you will get a better overall finish than the factory painted models.

Or wait to see if Spark announce it. I suspect they will at some point.

The SMTS kits are actually very very good kits (with a bit of work, which with whitemetal is to be expected). The castings are nicely detailed, but unfortunately they are let down by the photography (and painting) of the factory finished models as, like Spark, they are heavily painted thus losing an awful lot of detail. Hence why they sometimes appear, and are criticed for, being a bit 'jelly mould'

I sent SMTS photos of my Chimaera and they sent the model back with an exact match for the upholstery, paint, chrome tailpipes and even the correct number plates. I cannot recommend them highly enough

Hi,

The SMTS Chimaera is the pre-98 model so I guess they cannot adapt to the later version with some of the more obvious model changes eg. bar across radiator grill or rear lights. So I'm waiting for the Spark model to be released later this year which will be a 1999 Chimaera in black.

Since I'm rubbish at modelling, I'd like to get it changed to match my car (colour/interior/plate etc). Does anyone do this - Red Firecracker ????
Thanks

Peter

I have tried SMTS for some models, I'm after a V8S and a Griff, but they don't have any in stock, then need a minimum order to make them.

I already have a Chimaera one which I built my self, would like to get the rest.
I think the minimum order was 25 of any version.

If we can get enough people together may be worth it!

I have had a Griff on order for nearly 2 years so dont hold your breath , i wish someone would make a large scale Griffith
say 1/18 . It boils my p"ss when you see some obscure ugly car get manufactured and a beautiful Griff gets overlooked. Monza
red with grey leather a black hood and stainless dash would be nice, hehe

Thats the impression I got when i called them which is a shame, as they make nice models.
If we can get enough people together who want one of their tvr models they may make them for us.

Give SMTS a call, they have just done a batch of TVR models, I was on their waiting list and they emailed me. I have just ordered mine. Not sure how many they have left.

Hi Toma,
Sorry for the late reply. Just moved house so been a bit busy with that.
I just used halfords spray paint for mine. I did give it a little rub down with wire wool first before the primer. I have finished my chimaera, and started on the V8S i have. The hardest part i found was cutting the windscreen out.
If you need anymore advise don't hesitate to PM me and I'll try to help.

Cheers

Looks very good. Well done.
Mine has had to go on hold for the moment, while i do some jobs around the house.
Your windscreen seems to have come out well. Any tips?
Mine came out ok on the first one i done, but wondering if there is a better way to do it.
I just cut mine with sissors and then used a knife to trim it up.
