Needle in a Haystack time...Peugeot 505 V6 Saloon
Discussion
This is picture of my newly 605 V6 taken before purchase. As you can see, the body & paint isnt quite new anymore. It will need some body work or paint job someday. The interior isnt leatherd. Its quite unfortunate for me. I had wanted leather, but the price was irressistable, so was the sound mechanicals. Unfortunately also, the wheels are not alloy (weird). Surprised to see a V6 605 without alloy. Well, will have to replaced those wheels someday with alloys.

@ Wedge. Since your 605 is ZPJ (PRV V6 12v), then you have nothing to fear. The 12v valve even-fire 2nd generation PRVs have been proven to be indestructible. Luckily, it has timing chain, not belt. As long as the engine in your 605 is concerned, it will outlived the car itself, if properly cared for. But i wouldnt know the availability of other mechanical parts of 605 in your region. Over here, its not a problem. Parts are very much available. At least, yours is series 2. The electrical issues associated with series 1 605, like mine, was addressed in series 2.
Ikenna.

Well my time with the 605 is coming to an end, its been a great drive the last couple of months but it really is just a bit too big for me as a daily runabout. Its about to get replaced with a 206 GTi 180 as a bit of fun for a while.
I'm still going to keep an eye out for a 505 V6 but for now the 605 has gone into the classifeds, will be a shame to see it go

Agreed! How did they go so wrong after making this kind of car? I went in a 5 door pug 205 1.1 and the space/ride trade off was brilliant, far better than modern superminis. And it was still chugging on decades after production reliably with zero rot. 0a said:

One of the girls I work with runs a wee 205 diesel. I couldn't believe that it was still going. It's not got any obvious rust and seems to run perfectly, and she obviously likes it cause she could afford something more modern but that's not needed. Peugeot, what went wrong?just saw this on the cars you dont see anymore and remembered this thread looking for a nice 505 - your time has come (shame its not a V6)

Cheers for that...
I've been watching that on ebay over the last month or so. Its gradually coming down in price, he had it originally at about £4k I think. Even now its still overpriced really despite there being not many. I think it needs a reasonable amount of work as well, body isnt really that good.
I'm keeping an eye out for one of the very few V6 cars, but still currently restoring my 205 GTi at the moment.

Just found this thread after doing a bit of digging on goggle about 505 V6's and thought I would post a pic of my 505 V6 that I am just about to bring the body/paint work up to scratch. It had been off the road for 16 years when I got it and have done a few things and is now MOT'ed and taxed and on the road. This pic was taken last weekend but now clearing a space in my garage to start on the bodywork.

Hopefully see it around sometime
Yes that's Chatelherault or what ever it's called, I am not really the best at these build threads as I am the type of person that gets my head down and beast into a job rather than taking pics along the way but I will try my best to record the journey. Here's another fewAs above, readers ride thread please. I'll subscribe to it!
