Well, I went out to buy a normal car, but instead came back with this.
It's a Citroen DS5, in ultra-rare hybrid form. Diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain with 200bhp. I have upgraded my breakdown cover.
It's absolutely beautiful inside and out. Like a bit of rolling sculpture. Photos don't do it justice; you really need to see one to "get it".
I'll write some more at some point, but for now I'm in love

Said it before (So tell me to shut up if needed)
all welcome
I would like to see a DS5 owner join, as you say quite rare as most are contract/work cars (quite a few X7.C5 owners now btw).... http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/index.php

Superb car. Is that a DStyle or DSport? I searched long and hard for mine, worth the wait though. Head Up Display and Directional Xenons are just brilliant. The rest of the car is superb too, looks and feels special. Turns head, even on the motorway other drivers slow down as they go past, sometimes annoying as I'm coming up on a lorry and need their lane! It's a Citroen DS5, in ultra-rare hybrid form. Having the black alloys on mine refurbished soon, decided to have them in the ultra rare silver:
Greetings to another DS5 owner
Mine is a DStyle. So it's missing the HUD and the directional Xenons, but I think it has pretty much everything else.
I wasn't intending to buy one. I sat in, and drove, loads of different cars in the £20K - £25K price range for something up to 3 years old, including all the usual German suspects, and nothing excited me. The Mercedes S-class and Jaguar XJ both made the shortlist. The Maserati Quattroporte was quite tempting. But as soon as I sat in the DS5 I thought...wow. This is gorgeous. It felt special in a way that no other modern car, not even the S-class, did. It's the complete opposite of the car-as-appliance; an anti-appliance if you like. It's totally form over function, presentation over content. It's unashamedly different and yet effortlessly cool. Only the French and Japanese can do cars like this.
Like you I looked at a few different ones. I decided that I wanted the hybrid, because this is a niche car, and if you're going to go niche, you might as well go full niche. According to the dealer, Citroen sold virtually zero DS5 hybrids to ordinary paying customers. Nearly all of them are dealer demos or Citroen owned.
This one came up at a dealer about 40 miles away. I liked the colour of this one. It's called Vapour Grey. It's not grey though; it's like a soft blend of silver and gold. It's eye-catching without being shouty or blingy. Really nice. I also liked the leather/suede upholstery, which I preferred to the full leather (although the watch-strap leather package is lovely).
You're right about it attracting attention!

I seriously considered the hybrid, mainly for the ZEV mode but in the end I still wanted a manual more, so the 2.0 HDI it was. You'll have to let us know how real world economy looks with the hybrid. I went to test drive one but none of the dealerships seemed to either have one or know who did!
Seen a few vapour greys about, really suits the car.
