The R5GTT always looked fantastic rolling on Ronal's. They have to be one of, if not, the best aftermarket alloys to suit the lines of the car, other than the standard wheels.
I always fancied a set for mine way back in the late '90's / early '00's but could never find a decent set before I ended up selling the car

Seven hundred quid's worth of French hot hatch awesomeness. Even more so now I've got the radio working.
It's got a bit of a water leak somewhere in the ceiling, the screen washer doesn't work, the air con is borked, the rear wiper is loose and the cambelt needs doing... But I love it anyway. It's so much FUN!

Nice I take it this is a phase 2 car? It's got a bit of a water leak somewhere in the ceiling, the screen washer doesn't work, the air con is borked, the rear wiper is loose and the cambelt needs doing... But I love it anyway. It's so much FUN!
Sunroof will need a new seal, aircon will need new pipework as its corroded, common issue on both counts.

I got one of them too! V6 diesel. Got to make way for something more baby friendly though
Nice car - is the front splitter colour coded? That's not the "sports" splitter is it?
Do you have some pics of the front?
Cheers,
Steve

now I'm "split" over whether to attach it black, or get it painted
like you did. I should stop visiting these pages, they're getting to
become very expensive

Steve

It is indeed Phase 2. On a P, and one of the first - it has a badge on the back saying 'The new' next to the usual 306 one!Sunroof will need a new seal, aircon will need new pipework as its corroded, common issue on both counts.
Not arsed about the air con (why would I be, I have a sunroof) and the leak is mildly annoying but I can put up with it - other, more pressing issues need to be fixed first, e.g. the cambelt and the STOP light on the dash.

Is that the one with almost 240k miles on the clock? If so I'm sure I saw it on eBay not long ago. Very tempted to have a punt on it myself. Looked like a very straight car, although I don't recall those issues being mentioned in the ad!It's got a bit of a water leak somewhere in the ceiling, the screen washer doesn't work, the air con is borked, the rear wiper is loose and the cambelt needs doing... Aye it is! It is straight, no body dings at all. It does have more issues than the ad mentioned, but it drives well. Amazingly, the electric sunroof both works and doesn't leak. I'm very glad you didn't take that punt, it's a fantastic car.You wouldn't believe how close I came to putting a bid in! I chickened out on the basis that it was too far away!
I run an N-reg 306 1.9 D Turbo as my daily and have always thought the chassis is amazing and could easily handle double the power, hence why I was toying with the idea of buying your GTI-6!
Glad to hear you're enjoying the car though, and very pleased it hasn't fallen into the wrong hands like so many GTI-6s have!
Enjoy the car and always remember that I'm here if you ever need to get rid!

Haha, well I live in Newcastle and had a 300 mile drive to get it back home!
I never actually bid on it on eBay, I messaged the seller after it didn't sell and offered 700 quid. Went down a week later by train and drove it back. Came with a full history, every receipt from every bit of work done on it is present and correct.
Get yourself a GTi-6 of your own fella, you definitely will not regret it. Mine puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, even if it's just to the shops - you can get its back out on roundabouts if you're lairy enough...! Gonna take it up to the Cairngorms next year for a proper drive on a proper driving road, cannot wait.

Just checked and I still have your car on my list on eBay. It says it was re-listed presumably because the winning bidder failed to turn up first time round. The second time it shows £700 with no reserve and no one bid on it! Amazing how the mileage frightens potential buyers away. Obviously it will affect the re-sale value of the car, but if it's made it that far and is still on the road after nearly 20 years then you know it's been looked after. Especially when it comes with all the history you mention.I never actually bid on it on eBay, I messaged the seller after it didn't sell and offered 700 quid. I'm always looking at GTI-6s online and just waiting for another one to crop up at the right price. I reckon they'll shoot up in value very soon just like the 205 GTI did, so mustn't hang about!
I was zipping about in a 1996 Celica 2.0 GT last week and very nearly bought that. It's funny as I'd always positioned the car a class above the likes of the GTI-6, but only just realised they have almost identical power/performance figures! Just goes to show how the GTI-6 was ahead of its time.
As I'm sure you're aware, the lift-off oversteer you mention is a common 306 characteristic. Even my D Turbo has a bit of a reputation for its loose back end!
