Got the GTA Turbo finished in its latest guise over the summer. I've owned it since 1990 so the spec has evolved alot over the years. Had a new custom turbo install (Garrett G Series) with an Emerald ECU (previously on Adaptronic). Car runs a Safrane Biturbo engine adapted to inline fitting with GTA parts. Pretty much everything on the car is now non standard (even the Audi Moonlight blue paint). Made 320 BHP and 360 ft/lbs on Road and Tracks conservative reading rollers (standard 2.5 GTA Turbo makes about 185 BHP) . Also whacked a couple of 265/35 18" Kuhmo Ecstas on the back which seem to transmit the power pretty well. Car is only 1200KG so has the same torque to weight ratio as a 911 Turbo (997) so as you can imagine it goes quite well.
Thanks as always to John at JL Engineering , he always does an immaculate job and I wouldn't consider letting anybody else work on the car now.

There are some fantastic cars on this thread - both the simca rallye and the V6 alpine are cars that I missed out on owning years ago when prices and availability were good!!
Swapped my fair weather hatch (106) for my winter hatch yesterday (182)
The 182 is on 53k one owner and unmodified (minty)
The rallye is the opposite - 168k heavily modified and has been taken apart and put back together again more times than my boys Lego!!
Bloody love it though ... The clios up for sale in the spring..... The rallye - never.

Proper CUP (Twingo Renaultsport CUP on V5) rear bench seat, no AC, no autowipers no tinted windows.)
Great backroad tool, takes me back to the good old days when I used to horse about in my 5GT Turbo & 205 GTI 1.6.

That 182 is very nice, why would you sell it? I've not been in a 182 but I often wonder if I should have gotten one instead of my 200Swapped my fair weather hatch (106) for my winter hatch yesterday (182)

Whats the story with the 106 too?
I was never in to French cars really but I do love a small hot hatch baguette now!

I never new they did a twingo cup - prices seem good too, one of my guys had a 1.2 turbo one that was a good little car.Whats the story with the 106 too?

The clio - a guy I have known for years through work asked me to do some work for him and when I got to his house it was on his drive.
He's not a motoring enthusiast and he bought the clio 14yrs ago on a whim - used it lightly, maintained it minimally (compared to an enthusiast)
I said - wow Phil never expected you to have car like that! When you want to sell let me know.
4yrs later he offers it to me but if I'm honest my position had changed (more cars and children) but I am a man of my word so I bought it.
I thought that perhaps it could replace my 106 - a bit more modern/safer etc (I had never driven one but heard good things)
I have been bringing it up to standard (tight) over the last few months and don't get me wrong it's a very good car out of the box but it isn't going to fill the Rallyes shoes anytime soon.
The Rallye - longest I have ever owned a car and I get through em!
Had it for 13yrs now ( I cant quite believe it myself)
It is the original 1.6 8v
Ported polished, valves etc
Lightned, balanced
Cammed
Jenvey throttle bodies with 8 injectors
158.8 bhp - revs to 8200rpm and pops and bangs in the traditional way!
Short box + lsd
Billet 4 pot brakes
Satchshift gear linkages
Bilsteins
Rose jointed steering
All bushes changed etc etc
Fibreglass bonnet
Fibreglass boot + perspex.
Drives tightly and precisely
Weighs 700 something with the front half of the interior fitted.
It is the perfect fast road car for me considering the type of road where I live (rural Devon) and how I use it.
The clio just feels sooo heavy and "mushy" in comparison although I'm sure with mods it could be altered.
+ The throttle bodies on the pug are basically in the front scuttle and the noise they generate combined with the short box makes me giggle like a boy when I'm off to Waitrose for milk we don't need!
