First, it was great meeting you both (and Samuel yesterday), albeit on different circuits!
Great driving Alex, you're clearly doing something right (which I am not doing) and the Chinese semi-slick tyre excuse in the wet didn't "hold much water" on a drying track (unless of course they are inherently crap, which I hope now).
You were both keen on knowing more about my harness install. Those 3 links will help:

You'll need x3 10mm and x1 12mm Pretzl coeurs. The OPM 4M was the best value as it has 75mm wide shoulder straps.
The rear seat base just swivels on front hinge (not need to dismantle it) and you need x1 10mm and x1 12mm coeur there. For the lap ones, use the original belt attachment bolts for safety. The tunnel side is difficult of access so you'll need to unbolt the driver's seat and get someone to tilt it and hold it at 45deg while you operate (no need to unplug the airbag lead).
It's a 30mn job, or probably 15mn once you've done it once.
As for DN16, things are looking grim now as I have a presentation on the 28th in the evening so I can't make either days unless I move the presentation which might be tricky. Will let you guys know.
Thanks Nick for the info and links about the harness installation. Yours looked really neat and is a great solution for a car that will only go on track occasionally and appear completely standard the rest of the time.Great driving Alex, you're clearly doing something right (which I am not doing) and the Chinese semi-slick tyre excuse in the wet didn't "hold much water" on a drying track (unless of course they are inherently crap, which I hope now).

Cheers. Enjoying it. Much more challenging drive than the previous golf R. Loving it.
Ditto! It's very different isn't it. Mine was DSG which probably spoiled me, but I'm not loving the gearbox - it's not that it's notchy as such, it just feels 'cheap' like a Citroën Saxo. Struggling to be smooth with changes, especially first to second but that may be down to my having long legs and the peddles feeling far to close Gearbox fine for me. No issues with it at all. Easy to heel n toe. The gtr disappeared on the straights but had to work hard on the twisty roads around the Peak District. It's a big motor! Enjoyed chasing the CSL. Had a good drive of it and was surprised how different it felt to my old e46 M3.

It's an old box for sure. Synchromesh feel lazy. I read they still have issues with the gearboxes just like the clio's TL4 did.
When I first drove the car I could never tell if I was in gear or not but a few hundred miles in and it seems fine now. It just needs nursing a little.
Is everyone planning on running Michellin ps2 still as replacement tyres? Don't want to put cups on and the ps2 is okay.

First I've heard of gear box issues, it's an entirely different box (pk something I think) out of the scenic or similar. When I first drove the car I could never tell if I was in gear or not but a few hundred miles in and it seems fine now. It just needs nursing a little.
