Renault’s don’t really change much in the ‘book’ for options, it does make them sell better, if rather have you car than standard one for sure, but convincing a sales manager it’s work a lot more than a boggo one is another thing!
This x 100.

I had practically the same conversation with a Ford main dealer yesterday - he said my options would help him sell the car at a big profit, but he wouldn't give me anything above the book price for a standard car for it.

WBAC are quoting £2.2k more than he offered. I'm in no rush though.

Sorry to hear that... Sounds like a bargain, it should sell quickly at that price.
Cheers Nick - struggling to get PX offers (for a downgrade to something cheaper) of much above £11k. There doesn't seem to be much appetite in the trade to give higher than standard book values even with the spec it has. Very odd.

The people that think their Megane is worth much more than book are the people stuck with their cars for ages.

There is a lot recycling Autotrader not selling.
Book trade values are meaningless for RS products. Those cars really need to sell privately. I know mine was worth considerably more than book when I sold it to someone who did value the spec and particularly the Recaros.

Hardly meaningless when most of the selling options are ruled out.

I wouldn't pay such a premium for a car if selling in a quick timeframe meant I had to take a 30% hit. I don't want stuck with a car that takes months to sell as I need to find one of the few people willing to pay over the odds.

The cars that sell are the ones that come up for the right money. The rest struggle to sell and even dealers take a long time to shift highly priced cars.

Many of the private sale cars I enquired about ended up in dealers. Usually for around the same money.

I eventually sold mine to Arnold Clark in Burton for £12k. I'd had Px values of everything from £9.5k to £11k, so that was a bit of a result in the circumstances.

I told them about the ridiculously high spec and they just smiled and said "we have tools which tell us far more about a car than most sellers even know" and promptly advertised it for £13,300 and a description simply saying 'Red'.

They'd obviously price matched it against a boggo flame red one at the other side of the country, with no account taken for the Ohlins, Akra, Recaros etc, and it was sold within 3 days.

I'm now in a 986 again, with £8.5k change in my pocket and whilst I miss the Meg, I don't really feel like i've stepped down in terms of fun factor.

£1300 doesn't seem to be much of a profit margin.

Didn't your car have a few things to do? Didn't I read about a faulty door handle or something?

Did you get many bites from private buyers?

There is a whole heap of cars that people assume to be highly desirable, but the truth is sellers really struggle to sell.

Nope it was spot on, bar some strange 'flaking' on the inside door pull on the driver's side. They are £65 on eBay. Arnold Clark didn't even knock off any money for that.

I agree about the £1300. I thought that was surprisingly low, but they obviously just priced it vs something of similar miles, age and colour.

Not a Cup S but this £25K Trophy R has been up for sale for quite a while at KTR. Is the price too much or is there something not specced right? or some other reason?

I thought it would go quite quickly when I first saw it but it's still there.

I can't beleive the prices KTR get away with charging.

They are willing to sit on stock for a long time.

The tax expired on that car April 2018 and had 13,000 miles at the MOT test in 2018.

Looks like it has been sat about for a while.

Dunno. Doesn't seem that bad for a Trophy R. That one doesn't have AC or a stereo; may put some off? I'm no expert on the Trophy R market.

Yes that would be about right, every time I get a new car urge I look at that one. For what it is the price doesn't seem too bad to me.

Something is putting people off being up sale that long.

They've sold off ex track experience cars in the past.

Just checking valuation guides and they only come in at around £18k for that car at a dealer.

WBAC offer £14.8k.

Like the poster above you'll not have any cheap ways out of the car.

I think the Trophy-R is almost in the same state as the R26R. Those who own one cherish it and only take it out on special occasions, leaving all the tatty ones to be the only ones up for sale. Also ktec have a habit of pricing themselves way above the accepted market prices. Best example of this is the Red Bull Megane they are trying to sell for £15k!

That was my thinking and why I made the post. They had another R in yellow with about 45K on the clock for a few grand less and it sold a while back.

That would put me off for a few reasons, probably some of them slightly illogical.

It would be a keeper for me but I hear you.

They have another yellow one now with red wheels. Same price but with the Nurburgring pack. I see it selling before the white one.

They've have the RB for a while too. £15k is reduced from what it started. There's a few more expensive still on Autotrader.

I did nearly buy one, but they aren't worth the premium owners ask.

KTR's car sales are massively over inflated. But apparently the owner of Ktec says it's a separate entity. Their servicing and parts isn't too bad tbh - I've bought parts from there. I tend to use Kam racing a lot more now though, as the prices are identical to Ktec, and the points system they use reduces the price long term. Plus the service is great, and the owner is on the Megane forums on facebook and is really helpful.

I’m considering a Cup S but it’s a real struggle to find any with uprated exhaust and recaros. Has anyone owned a car without these and do you feel it missed them?

I’d prefer a Trophy but everyone seems to ask a huge premium for them which given what extra the have doesn’t seem justified.

I have Recaros but no Akro exhaust. It still sounds nice enough to me (as far as a turbo 4 pot can), and pops away merrily on the over run once hot. It has character. Akro will certainly be louder if that's what you want.

Just taking the parcel shelf out gives a fair bit more noise in the cabin biggrin

For me the seats were a must as they lift the interior a lot.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the akra. As above, easiest fix you can do is folding the rear seats down and taking the parcel shelf out. This improves the sound quite dramatically. If that's still not enough or you need to use the rear seats, chopping the mid box out is a quick and cheap improvement.

I agree the premium people are asking for the trophy is a bit absurd considering its the exact same car.
