Hi, I am currently restoring my Peugeot 505 V6 GTI executive and was wondering if any PH,er has or knows of any other 505 V6's out there. It would also be good to here from any other 505 owners and there struggle to find parts and maybe get together to sell/swap parts we may have extra that someone else is desperately seeking.

Cheers Robert

My word a 505 V6,something tells me you won't find many owners to talk to.I USED to have a 505 GTi 2.2 4cyl inj, from 1988 -1994,strong,comfortable,100%reliable,it was still driving like a Mercedes when I sold it,they are really great cars.
I`ve been involved with Peugeot's since the 70`s (now retired) and know a few contacts for you.
Ken Broughton (505@clubpeugeotuk.org)is the 505 registrar, who will point you in the right direction. While you're there join the club, the annual club rally is next month, most likely a few 505`s will turn up.
Parts wise talk to Dean Hunter http://www.peugeotparts.co.uk/ he eats and sleeps Peugeot`s,can supply new and second hand parts.
Other great places for Peugeot parts are www.serie04.com or www.franzose.de
I`ve used all the above with good results and service.

I suppose you already know this, your ZN3J V6 engine is fitted to Renault,Volvo and even the ill fated Delorean had that engine.

Thanks guys, I have already had a few bits from Dean Hunter and just got myself a GTD Turbo (minus the engine) for a parts car. I have been a Peugeot tech since 1984 so you have a few years on me LOL. I have just about got all I need now and have started on the bodywork but it is going to be a long project. I actually PDI,ed this very car back in 1986 and have known it all its life. Here are a couple of pics when I picked it up.

This is great thug pug,not only are we talking about a real Peugeot,I`m talking to a real old school Peugeot Tech`.
How refreshing to find someone who was brought up with Peugeot's that had, pushrods, distributors with points, etc. These days the most important item in a technicians Snap on Tool Box is a lap top,so he can work on the "Playstation Peugeot`s".
I have a feeling the body work is going to be a big time consuming task.Keep us updated,if you have any questions just fire away.Good luck with the work.
I`ve still got a few Peugeot parts left over after clearing out my Peugeot workshop when I retired. They are over at my mates farm and I will have a rummage.Don't expect much I think its mostly 205GTi & 405 stuff.

Yes the good old days, The very first job I was allowed to do on my own was to PDI a Talbot Horizon GLS and it was also my first Oh crap moment as I drilled through the rear washer bottle when fitting the rear plate. We also had a petrol 504 pick up as the parts delivery and workshop truck and had a doggy distributer and used to backfire all the time and was nicknamed "The Fire Dragon".
The bodywork will be a long job but its not too rusty just a little on the O/S/F leg and bottom of the windscreen pillars so currently taking the engine out to get access to the leg to repair it properly.
Due to it having ABS it does not have a LSD like the GTI's so I am swapping the LSD out of the GTD Turbo into the V6 along with the standard braking system as the ABS in the V6 is the integral type like the early MI 16's and is utter rubbish and very unsafe.

If you mean that weird ABS in the first Mi16`s? a strange master cylinder, pump,an odd setup, sometimes you would have NO BRAKES!!,that was a disaster system.I used to rip the lot out,fit a 405SRi pedal box, servo and master cylinder.Make up new metal pipes and it then had normal brakes.Perhaps you could do a similar conversion with the stuff from the 505 turbo?

Try the Citroen XM forums as well, the PRV engines are well known by them.

Lot with experience with the PRV engines/gearboxes on the French Car Forum as well.

Yes that very odd (and dangerous) system, I had a MI 16x4 a couple of years back and the brakes failed when my wife was driving but luckly she is pretty switched on and managed to get it stopped before hitting anything. I have already started that very job of switching the V6 over to the normal master cylinder/servo set up from the GTDT and I am also ditching the rear calipers for the drum set up from the GTDT as you will well know the handbrake on those early rear caliper set ups were worse than useless.
I will also be fitting the LSD rear diff unit from the GTDT as the V6 did not come with one due to it having the ABS, unsure how the gearing from the LSD unit will effect the driving if any but with a V6 should have enough torque to deal with any higher rear diff gearing.
Parts for the PRV engine don't seam to bad to find as a few models used that engine it's more the odd bits like trim etc that are the hard bits to locate.

Hi There,

I have a 1983 505 STI, used for one year only and has 7,500 miles from new.

Hope the V6 restoration is going from strength to strength, must be the only one left in the UK?

Best Wishes

Dan
