I’ve googled but what does forged engine mean in layman’s terms?
The standard pistons & rods are replaced with items that are "forged" Higher quality and alot stronger. They will stand much more power without breaking don logan said:
I've never wanted more power than a stage 1 in the R, part of the car's appeal is getting the most from it's chassis without loads of power, I have a 182 Cup too and it's the same thing with that!
Totally agree stage 1 is very popular out there on the R I have a pal that tracks his a lot and has rs tuning map and he quite often takes his back to stock on most tracks like you say it’s about getting the most out of that fantastic chassis tony dumble said:

Stage 1 is perfect on an .R - I think the slightly higher BHP and larger intercooler should have been standard from day one. About 275BHP and the extra torque make the car. Great to see this thread I started last year is still going..
We ended up getting a mk3 275 Cup-s last August, with akropovic, recarros and ohlins. Lots of reasons why, it lives outside (not sure how the R26R bonnet would like that), rear seats are useful for occasionally carrying the kids, it was cheaper at £18k and also quite subtle in silver so I can use it as abit if a work horse for work as well as it’s trackday duties...
Trip to Spa with brothers CSL last year...it’s a fabulous car, one that I am learning from everytime I drive it...Maybe when the above reasons subside, a R26R will be back on the cards, if they are not £50k by then!!
Enjoy your cars chaps!

Where would you buy one these days? I have one in my loft as it happens-still in the shipping box it was delivered to me in.don logan said:
Funny you say that because I bought mine at 1k miles and the pack had been kept by the previous owner, at the time is wasn't a reason not to buy the car!
i totally agree it did not stop me buying my car too I just thought it would be nice to put with my history just a little tied looking I wouldn't ever sell it unless it was worth a fortune if I'm honest (can't see that happening), it was my first ever brand new car and I quite like the memories.
Plus, my best mate doesn't have one for his and I'd probably give it to him for all the laps I've done in his if I was to get rid.
