There were 50 imported to Australia alone...!

For the money a R26-R goes for, I'd rather have a 275 and a super nice Clio 182 in my garage. Two very different, yet characterful cars smile

And yes, I had a 250 Cup Trophee, now I run a 182 Cup as my daily. In all honesty, I prefer the Clio.

Of the 159 I think those that didn't sell in UK in 2009 must have been exported to RHD countries. Makes sense as only 95 UK ever been on DVLA.

Saw that too. It does look good value but it's not exactly flown off the site. I still don't see these doing anything much more than slowly increasing in value. They won't drop though.
Sounds good to me, a zero depreciating car. Plus one day they might be further appreciated.

I'm lucky enough to have an R26R and a tatty but mechanically very good 182 Cup and the truth is that I DO enjoy the Clio more unless I'm in the Alps where the extra power helps and it's MASSIVE stabilty when changing direction / braking on undulatiing, less than perfect road surfaces!

I've upset LOTS AND LOTS of sports bike riders on alpine roads in the R, (they're not used to letting cars past) and upset LOTS of "sports car" drivers on tighter B roads in the UK in the Clio!

I had a GTR which I took to the Alps a couple of years ago and I honestly started to work out how long it would take me to come home and pick one of the Renaults up!

GTR was sold very soon after

I went from RS265 to R26 and it is more fun to drive because it doesn't feel so big. Its got bigger windows to see the road better, a lower bonnet line, its lighter and smaller to fit on normal roads

A 182 Cup is much more "go kart", makes the R feel BIG, infact I realised HOW big the R was when I tried to peel a sticker of the passenger window from the driver's seat!

That's interesting, when I saw the 265/75 and suspected exactly that, along with the type of A pillar that get's in the way, the high bonnet line isn't great for placing the car on the kind of roads I like driving on the most!

liquid yellow

Price: €40,000

One lady owner eh? scratchchin

One few years ago EVO magazine had a feature on a white R26.R, whose owner was a lady in her 60s/70s who regularly took her car to track days.

Could well be the same car.
That is unreal, I have just bought a few months ago a set of R26R alloys from a lady in her 60`s who bought a spare set from Renault to keep for Track Days but never used them! She had photo`s in her garage of the R26R on track days with her driving.

When I went to the door a youngish lad answered and he took me into garage whereby there was a 997 Turbo in there, It was his Grandads! Both the Grandad and the Grandma did trackdays. The Grandma had the R26R and now had wait for it a Cayman R! The Grandad a 997 Turbo!

Legends, and lovely people!

Given the title of this thread, it's inextricably linked to R26.R values but to change the subject a bit, how is everyone enjoying their cars? If you wanted a change what could you replace it with that's got the same performance, rarity, add lightness philosophy and low depreciation, even appreciating value status?

I'm really enjoying how mine is going. Got the 'keeping it under 10000 miles' monkey off my back and time off permitting I'm using it a bit more. It would be good to be chatting about the cars and not how much they're worth today.

On an associated note, I went to the Alpine Sportscars day at Goodwood last month and had a good chat with some Alpine techs, engineers and owners who were unfamiliar with the car in the flesh (mainly too young and all hearsay) and poking the rear windows. It was amusing for nobody to say 'Ahh, but if it was solid grey...'

I won't be tracking it, but as a fast road car it's great fun.

I've bought and sold that car twice. It's only got the Ti system back on it because I took the trouble to take off the silly front to back K-Tec big bore one fitted by an ill-advised owner and refit the Ti system - my friend said he would never do it again LOL.

In some ways I wished I had kept it as it's in great condition, spec and nice low number (I also had Clio 182 Trophy 002 a couple of times and they would have made a nice pair in a collection) plus now maybe nobody is bothered by its former 'Press Car' status I used to be bombarded with.

I've nothing against anyone trying to keep the mean average price up! One day they'll be this value, not quite yet.

Presumably this represents where trade bids are at present, below £17k for a good car with 40k miles on the clock. I'd bet £16k trade tops.
